The Vertical File contains brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, and other printed ephemeral material pertaining to North Carolina people, organizations, places, history, and events. Files on a county, for example, typically include brochures / maps pertaining to natural or historic sites, cultural events, and local businesses.

Papers (1890-1977, undated) including clippings, correspondence, speeches, photographs, programs, clipping documents of public life, invitations, scrapbooks, biographical information, letter of recommendations, etc.

Papers of Eudora Welty (1909-1986 [Bulk: 1930-1980], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Jackson, Mississippi-born American short story writer, novelist, journalist, photographer, and educator, who wrote about the American South; including correspondence; manuscripts, original art, photographic prints, proofs of published materials, audio recordings, printed material, and loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, by or about Eudora Welty, Donald Davie, Richard Ghormley Eberhart, Shelby Foote, Ross Macdonald, Katherine Anne Porter, George William Russell, Allen Tate, Robert Penn Warren, and others; in English & French language.

Collection (1766-2010) consists of items related to the Augustus Moore (June 8, 1803-March 23, 1851) family of Chowan and Halifax Cos., N.C., his children Augustus Minton Moore, William Armistead Moore, Henrietta Moore Sutton, Susan Augustus Moore Righton, Mary Elizabeth Moore, Alfred Moore and John Armistead Moore, and the descendants of John Armistead Moore. Included are account books, legal records, land transactions, estate records, correspondence, clippings, and autograph books (1855, 1865) belonging to family members who attended Miss Willard's Female Seminary in Troy, N.Y., and Patapsco Female Institute in Ellicott City, Maryland. Also included are identified photographs (cartes de visite, tintypes, cased pictures, albums) of the Moore, Gilliam, and Skinner, families, religious books such as Roman Catholic Missals, Episcopal Books of Common Prayer and Bibles, UNC-Chapel Hill diplomas (1824), and items related to the 1878 Exposition in Paris, France.

Organizational files (1952-2010) for the Sons of The Revolution in the State of North Carolina including minutes, annual reports, membership rosters, secretary's correspondence, financial records, reports, by-laws, newsletters, project files, publications, programs, photographs, and miscellany.

This collection contains records (1904-2024) of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Greenville, North Carolina, including correspondence, memos, financial records, reports, minutes, programs, newsletters and publications. Also included are photographs, documents, research notes, and other materials related to the 2013 church history "The People of St. Paul's: Happenings and Memories, 1700-2013" edited by Ann Harrison.

Papers (1805-1968; bulk 1860-1916) consisting of correspondence of a political nature, family-related correspondence, speeches, financial papers, farm records, farm account books, clippings, photographs, a diary and printed material related to Elias Carr and other members of the Carr and related families. Elias Carr (1839-1900) of Edgecombe County, a member of the Democratic Party, was the governor of North Carolina (1893-1897) and president of the N.C. State Farmers' Alliance and Industrial Union (1889-1892).

The clipping file provides subject access to the North Carolina Collection's clipping file of selected newspaper articles taken primarily from the Greenville Daily Reflector and Raleigh News and Observer.

This collection contains genealogy files compiled by Elizabeth (Betsy) Ross of Greenville, North Carolina, primarily related to families in Beaufort, Craven, Martin, and Pitt Counties, North Carolina. These files include individual family files containing family sheets and genealogy notes, plus abstracts of public records that she did from microfilm and the actual records, and notebooks of genealogy notes that include indexes to their information.
