Friends and Neighbors (FAN) Club was founded in 1973 by a group of neighbors in the Forest Hills neighborhood and Elmhurst/Englewood neighborhood of Greenville, North Carolina. They planned monthly trips and gatherings for meals with a host named for each monthly meeting. The scrapbook (1973-1998) includes photographs of events with later photographs containing thorough identifications of participants. Some few documents related to the club besides photographs are also included.

Also documented are her involvement in the Methodist Protestant (United Methodist Church after 1939),the Hardrawee Home Demonstration Club, the Halifax Co. Home Demonstration Club, Order of the Eastern Star, Halifax County Historical Association, Northeastern North Carolina Branch of the English-Speaking Union, Frank M. Parker Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Littleton College Memorial Association.
The Woman's Club of Greenville, NC, was founded in April 1917 intending to raise Greenville to be equal with other cities in the state. Catherine "Kitty" Smith Joyner (b. 4 June 1932 – d. 2 Aug 2011), a native of Greenville N.C., worked with the Woman's Club of Greenville, NC, in the 1990's. This collection includes photographs of Greenville, N.C., and other locations in Pitt County, as well as a publication detailing the first fifty years of the Woman's Club of Greenville, NC.
