Papers (1870-1981, undated) compiled by Mary Lee Pittman Post, concerning her family, education at Greenville High School and East Carolina Teachers College, and her teaching career at Currituck Elementary School, including photographic prints, correspondence, financial records, printed forms and printed materials relating to the Pittman, Coffield and related families of Currituck, Greenville, Scotland Neck, and Tillery, in Currituck, Pitt, and Halifax counties, North Carolina.

This collection is the account book for Dr. Robert H. Wyche between 1865 and 1869.

Papers (1917-1969) include first World War diaries, correspondence, advertisements, pamphlets, brochures, periodicals, clippings, magazines, books, etc.

Collection (1863-1865) related to the American Civil War and Andrew Giddings of Company E, 3rd North Carolina infantry. Includes Oath of Allegiance to the United States signed by Andrew Giddings on November 6, 1865 [Following the American Civil War, Confederate officials, veterans and prisoners of war were obliged to sign an "oath of allegiance" to regain their civil rights under the U. S. Constitution.]. The collection also includes a note concerning the capture of Washington Rose, a member of Company C, 6th Louisiana Regiment at the Battle of the Wilderness. Most significantly, the collection contains Andrew Giddings' leather-bound diary and ledger of income and expenses, which includes eyewitness accounts of the engagements in which he participated, including Gettysburg, Cold Harbor, Sharpsburg, Malvern Hill, 2nd Winchester, Chancellorsville, and Wilderness. It also includes descriptions of his capture and imprisonment in a Union prisoner of war camp. The collection also includes an envelope that held the diary with "Granddad Giddings Diary" written on it.

This collection contains an album (ca. 1930) of seventy-eight photographs and postcards taken by an unknown German missionary while working in the Malolo area of Papua New Guinea.

Yukon gold rush diary (1898 - 1899) (Photocopy [117 p.]) and typescript copy with introduction by Frank Moss [January 1998, 44 p.] and copies of photographic prints of Yukon gold rush [15 p.] Original diary withdrawn 5/9/2002, in possession of the donors.

This collection contains records (1942-1945) pertaining to Captain Wallace L. Wright's service in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Included are his Flight Record and Log, a diary (1933-1944) he kept when he was with the 8th Squadron 3rd Attack Group and other documents such as Special Orders (1943) and Individual Flight Record documents.

Papers (1926-1953) of Brig. General Paul A. Putnam, U. S. Marine Corps, an aviator, who was captured at Wake Island and was a POW in Japan, 1941-1945, consisting of correspondence, diaries, a photograph, clippings, citations, orders, recipe book, copies of awards, citations, publications, newspaper articles.

This collection consists of photographs, slides, and negatives of images used in Greenville—Pitt County Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (North Carolina) publications in the 1970s through 1990s. Also included are some audiotapes.

Papers (1777-2022) relating to John Baxton Flowers III academic career, family history and Scottish genealogy (Flowers, Kennedy, and Thompson families of Wayne County, NC), historic preservation, horticulture and garden history. Included are correspondence, financial and legal papers, academic records, newspaper clippings, photographs, typescripts, genealogical material, publications, certificates, house plans, watercolor drawings, and newsletters.

Zachary Taylor Koonce III (1928-2015) of Washington, N.C., was a public-school system educator and administrator for over 20 years who wrote poetry and essays about eastern North Carolina. Included in this collection are published and unpublished poems and short stories (1974-1988, undated) by Mr. Koonce including publications containing poetry and local history articles, and clippings of a local history column he wrote titled "Tying Up" for the Beaufort-Hyde News (1987-1988).

Papers from Wayne Williams while he was writing "Beginning of the School of Medicine at East Carolina University". Includes typescripts from interviews Williams conducted, newspaper articles about history of hospital, information on Pitt County Memorial Hospital (previously Vidant, now ECU Health) Board of Trustees and Foundation, general source material on nursing, and drafts of book.
