The collection includes publications created by the ECU School of Medicine and the University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Collection contains material related to the research, teaching, and publications of East Carolina University Department of History faculty member Lawrence F. Brewster, as well as his materials related to his philanthropy to ECU.

Collection (1945-circa 1980s, undated) of clippings, photographs, Christmas cards, World War II ration books, relating to the Parker family, "Pitch a Boogie Woogie" a film with an all-black cast, the Corner Stone Baptist Church, and Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church of Greenville, North Carolina.

The papers consist of two medical certificates and a remembrance card.

Collection includes papers related to the personal life and non-university activities of East Carolina University History Professor Lawrence Fay Brewster (ECU professor from 1945 to 1969) for whom the Lawrence F. Brewster Classroom Building on campus was named in 1974. Included are materials (1857-1945) related to his parents and ancestors, Brewster's early life and education through earning his Ph.D., his teaching job at Cranleigh School for Boys in St. Petersburg, Florida, and his work with the Works Progress Administration as Research Editor for the Historical Records Survey of North Carolina. The vast majority (1960-1991) of the collection concerns his work as historiographer for the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina and writing his "History of the Protestant Episcopal, The Diocese of East Carolina."

Papers (1933-1973) of U. S. Marine Corps aviation officer (Major Gen.) who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and who retired as commander of the Cherry Point, NC Marine Air Station, including correspondence, reports, war diaries, citations, certificates, and military records. Papers (1790, 1837-1864) consisting of correspondence by John C. Fennell who served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, was stationed at Camp Heath near Scotts Hill on Topsail Sound, and died (1862) during the yellow fever epidemic in Wilmington, North Carolina. Also includes financial papers, poem, and letters of the Cromartie family of Bladen County, N.C.

Papers (1736-1979) of the Whitehurst family of Craven County, North Carolina, including correspondence, genealogical information, land records, financial records, church related items, pamphlets, brochures, greeting cards, invitations, UDC records, clippings, photographs, and miscellaneous.

Collection (1911-1956, bulk 1918-1919) consists of material related to Roy S. Fisk who served as an Army cook with Co. C, 131st Engineers, AEF, stationed in Le Mans, France, during the latter half of World War I. Included are correspondence, papers related to Fisk's military career, war-related publications, French guide books and souvenir photo albums from places he visited in France, a postcard book from the USS Kaiserin Auguste Victoria, and Vol. 1, No. 19, April 10, 1919, issue of The Bulletin which discusses issues in France and the military career of Brigadier General George S. Simonds. Also included are some papers and ephemera related to his post-military life.

Notes and notebook with biological drawings most likely from Lula Disosway's education at the Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania.

The collection has letters, journals, notes, and transcripts of journals that belonged to Newsom Jones Pittman.
