In this oral history interview, Frances Mallison talks about her childhood in Greenville, North Carolina, meeting her husband and their early years together, attending college at Mary Baldwin and earning her Masters of Library Science at East Carolina University. her careers as a realtor and school librarian, and her family including her husband's career and jazz radio program, her children, and grandchildren.

This collection (2007-2010) is related to Patricia "Pat" Dunn's campaign for Mayor of Greenville, North Carolina, in 2007 and her first mayoral term in 2008 to 2010. Found here are her petition as an East Carolina University faculty member to obtain permission from ECU to run for political office, congratulatory letters and emails, photographs, certificates, the installation program, posters, highlights of her first term, and newspaper clippings.

Scrapbook created by Bertha Bulluck commemorating her time as a student at East Carolina Teachers College as well her early life in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The scrapbook contains letters, writings, newspaper clippings, memorobilia, and other personal items related to Bulluck's time at ECTC. Materials related to Bulluck's family and personal life were removed from the scrapbook prior to its donation by her family.

This collection (1980s-2010s) contains material related to the life of Michael J. Hamer, an English professor at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, from 1986 through 2013, and a prolific songwriter, singer, and band leader who died in 2017. Included are notebooks containing his handwritten lyrics, poems, photographs, reel to reel tapes, clippings, and other material pertaining to his musical career.

Papers, certificates, photos, and artifacts of Dr. Edwin Wall Monroe. This collection contains a great deal of information regarding the development of the East Carolina School of Medicine, including planning, politics, legislation, advertisement, construction, partnerships, details of the personnel involved, groundbreakings and other ceremonies, departments, additional buildings, and community services.

In this oral history interview Sam Hardy, Jr. primarily discusses his experiences working at East Carolina first in facilities and then in mail services as the university's first African-American mail carrier. He also discusses his family life. His daughter, Lisa Carney, makes a few comments as well.

This collection contains materials related to Roy Lokken's time working in the East Carolina History Department. Included are correspondence, committee records, publication information, and other material related to his teaching and advisory duties. Reprints and offprints of some of his published works as well as a personal poetry notebook are also included.

Papers (1942-1997) of U.S. naval officer, who rose to the rank of rear admiral commanding the Navy's Recruiting Command and the Naval Inshore Warfare Forces, Atlantic Fleet, 1943-1973; East Carolina University graduate, (1943); businessman, 1973-1977; and head of North Carolina State Ports Authority (1979-1985), including documents, photographic prints and negatives, correspondence, certificates, clippings, printed forms, and printed materials.

Collection (1852-2014) includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, printed materials, and other items compiled by retired East Carolina University English professor emeritus Dr. Ralph Hardee Rives (1930-2016) relating primarily to the Hardee - Rives and related families of North Carolina and the United Kingdom, the history of Eastern North Carolina (especially Halifax County and the town of Enfield), the United Methodist Church in Eastern North Carolina, state and local and national politics, and his charitable and philanthropic interests. The earliest original documents cover the period from 1852 through the Civil War and World War I.

This collection contains scrapbooks and files (1992-2014) documenting the organization Order of First Families of North Carolina from its founding in 1992.
