Papers (1945, 1994) of a US naval officer including an autobiographical sketch entitled Trains, Planes and Boats: A Memoir [and Genealogy of Richards Thorn Miller], 1918 - 1994, by Capt. Zachary Taylor Koonce III (1928-2015) of Washington, N.C., was a public-school system educator and administrator for over 20 years who wrote poetry and essays about eastern North Carolina. Included in this collection are published and unpublished poems and short stories (1974-1988, undated) by Mr. Koonce including publications containing poetry and local history articles, and clippings of a local history column he wrote titled "Tying Up" for the Beaufort-Hyde News (1987-1988).

This collection (1883, 1948-1995) contains Francis E. Winslow's correspondence (1948-1970) and genealogical notes on the Blount, Copeland, Cartwright, Leigh, Jacocks, and Winslow families of Northeastern North Carolina, a memorandum and account book (1883), clippings including (among others) Raymond A. Winslow, Jr.'s genealogy columns, a flash drive of scanned genealogical material on the Haines, Holmes, and Winslow families inherited by Raymond A. Winslow, Jr. and a 1974 clipping profiling Francis E. Winslow, and photocopies.

Correspondence (1861-1864) of Edgecombe County, N.C., soldier in Company F of the 30th Regiment of North Carolina Troops stationed in various locations in Virginia. All of his letters are addressed to his future wife, Miss Elizabeth S. Ward of Rocky Mount Depot, N.C. Two other letters are from North Carolina soldiers related to Miss Ward.

"Wilse Frazier: Remembrances of a Former Slave," by Helen Caulfield Madine Gregory and Robert Schmidt Fulghum, Ph.D., December 2000, 9 pages (Photocopy typescript relating their childhood their childhood memories of Wilse Frazier, a 110 year old freed man, formerly enslaved who lived on the "The Woodlands" plantation near Clopper, Maryland, who died in 1949, aged approximately 110 years. The manuscript includes bibliography and reproductions of photographs of Mr. Frazier, the author's families, and the plantation.
