This collection contains 8" x 10" photographs taken by Edwin A. Martin when he was a professor in the Philosophy Department at North Carolina State University and Curator of Photography at the North Carolina State University Visual Arts Center in the 1990s. The tobacco images cover a season of tobacco farming in the Wendell, North Carolina, area from planting through auction. The images of Harkers Island, North Carolina, document the daily life of the local fishing population. A 1998 publication Hope for a Good Season containing some of these Harkers Island photographs is also included.

This collection contains materials related to LeRoy Hale's service during WWII in the 314th Infantry in the 79th Division. The collection includes photographs, correspondence letters to his wife, Emma, memorabilia, separation papers, newspapers and clippings, postcards, and handbooks. A small portion of this collection contains information about Lorraine Hale Robinson and her work during her employment at East Carolina University.

Collection (1911-1956, bulk 1918-1919) consists of material related to Roy S. Fisk who served as an Army cook with Co. C, 131st Engineers, AEF, stationed in Le Mans, France, during the latter half of World War I. Included are correspondence, papers related to Fisk's military career, war-related publications, French guide books and souvenir photo albums from places he visited in France, a postcard book from the USS Kaiserin Auguste Victoria, and Vol. 1, No. 19, April 10, 1919, issue of The Bulletin which discusses issues in France and the military career of Brigadier General George S. Simonds. Also included are some papers and ephemera related to his post-military life.

This collection contains a memoir (ca. 1872) about life in New Bern, N.C., from 1822 to 1872. It includes biographical and informational data concerning politicians, lawyers and other important New Bern figures, as well as descriptions of life in New Bern and historical incidents of the period. An appendix contains transcripts of letters from prominent people.

Papers (1909-1938) including diaries, notebook of reminiscences, an expense book and other financial records, photographs, post cards, a map, certificates, diplomas, bonds and miscellany.

Papers (1976-2011) of Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Executive Director of the North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund and lobbyist for Conservation Council of North Carolina and the Sierra Club, North Carolina Chapter, including correspondence, newsletters, pamphlets, handbooks, magazines, legislative summaries, memos, reports, newspaper clippings on microfilm and miscellaneous documents relating to environmental issues.

This collection contains a flight log book and information on the type of planes flown by Colonel Lewis and East Carolina AFROTC Detachment 600.

Papers (1830-1919) of a prominent New Bern, NC attorney, state representative, 1876-1880, and state senator, 1881-1883, consisting of correspondence, legal briefs, financial papers, accounts, estate papers, land book and miscellaneous.

The Il Maryland, Il Jersey Meridionale, la Delaware, e la parte orientale della Virginia, e Carolina Settentrionale Map was drawn by Antonio Zatta in 1778 and was issued as part of his Atlante Novissimo publication. It documents the Southern British Colonies in what became the United States of America. It was based upon the work of John Mitchell and is one of the sections of the Italian edition of Mitchell's Map of North America. Contains three cresent moon watermarks on right side and unknown watermark deisgn on left side. Note: Second copy of map in #421.M.4

Papers (ca. 1923-1978, undated [bulk: 1955-1975]) of a prominent Greenville, North Carolina attorney and Democratic Party activist, who served as administrative assistant to U. S. Senator Samuel J. Ervin, Jr., 1955-1975, notably during the Watergate Scandal, and including personal, social, business and political files, photographic prints, and oversized materials relating to his life in Washington, DC, and North Carolina. Also contains information related to the life of his wife Marie Hardee Spain, a Greenville, North Carolina, native.

This collection contains material (1895-1936) related to Black minstrel shows that artist Mose McQuitty (who played baritone horn and string bass) toured with. Included are advertisements, photographs, and a route book listing the date, city, state, and lead show that the minstrel troupe toured with. Also included are extensive research files created by Alex Albright. These files chart McQuitty's movement state by state and show by show.

This collection (1966-2011) consists of papers, ephemera, and printed oversize materials related to Democratic and Republican party politics in North Carolina that document elections and Chester Julian (C.J.) Hyatt's involvement in politics. There is also material related to George C. Wallace's campaign for president in 1968, 1972, and 1976. Hyatt was state chairman for Wallace's run in 1976.
