Taylor & others; also including notes, oversized materials, photographic prints, printed forms, proofs of published works, loose manuscript materials transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, & printed materials; in English & French language.

Papers of Erskine Caldwell (1932-1982), documenting the life and literary career of the noted Coweta County, Georgia-born, American novelist of the rural poor in the American South; consisting primarily of his correspondence with Robert Cantwell; also Paul C. Richards, Autographs' description of the letters and Stuart Wright's correspondence with Paul C. Richards, Autographs relating to purchase of the letters.

Papers (ca. 1890-2008, undated) of Vice Admiral Robert Lee Ghormley, a member of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1906, including correspondence, orders, diaries, memoirs, photographic prints and negatives, certificates and commissions, legal papers, printed forms, ephemera, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, maps, museum objects, broadsides and posters and publications related to his education, family and personal life, in Tacoma, Washington, Moscow, Idaho, and Washington, D.C.; his naval career; his life in retirement, 1946-1958; and also including genealogical and historical essays compiled by his son, Commander Robert Lee Ghormley, Jr. (U.S. Navy ret.). Vice Admiral Ghormley served in China, Nicaragua, World War I, and in Haiti. Between the world wars he had several appointments and also served as commander of the destroyer USS Sands and the battleship USS Nevada. During World War II, he saw service as President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Special Naval Observer in Europe, August 1940-April 1942; as Commander, South Pacific Area and South Pacific Force, and the battle for Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands, April-October 1942; as Commander of the Fourteenth Naval District and the Hawaiian Sea Frontier, 1943-1944; and as Commander of United States Naval Forces in Europe, 1944-1945.

This collection consists of the records (1938-2014) of the Betsy Dowdy Chapter (Elizabeth City, North Carolina) of the DAR. Included are thirty-nine scrapbooks (1939-2012), fourteen Constitution Week scrapbooks (1979-2008), minutes (1938-2009), executive board minutes (1988-2010), award certificates (1970s-2014), treasurers' reports and other financial records (1992-2011), publications (1938-1958), and loose items (1940s-2000s). The scrapbooks contain photographs, clippings, programs, minutes, brochures, and circulars reflecting the activities of the Betsy Dowdy Chapter.

This collection consists of records (1968-1971) such as minutes, monthly reports, correspondence, and clippings related to the founding of the Coastal Plain Mental Health Advisory Board, later called the Pitt County Mental Health Authority. Also included are newsletters (1979, 1988-1993), personnel listings, brochures, an annual report (1983/1984), and retirement related items (1997) related to Dr. Stephen K. Creech's 23-year tenure as Area Director of the Pitt County Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Center in Greenville, North Carolina.

The John T. Windley Collection contains correspondence and oversize materials dating from 1900 to 1919. The bulk of the collection consists of letters organized chronologically between 1905 and 1919, documenting personal and professional activities during the early twentieth century. The collection also includes a small number of oversize items, including a 1906 mercantile agency notification sheet and several land plats depicting farms, drainage districts, and tracts of land in eastern North Carolina. Together, these materials provide insight into regional economic activity, land use, and communication practices during the period.

Papers of Eve Shelnutt (1984) documenting the life and literary career of the Spartanburg, South Carolina-born American poet, short story writer who taught creative writing at various universities, including the College of the Holy Cross; consisting of unbound carbon typescripts of her volume of poetry Air and Salt (1984) and of her short story Undersong (1984).

Papers of Reynolds Price (1853-1986 [Bulk: 1978-1986]) documenting the life and literary career of the prolific Macon, North Carolina-born American poet, novelist, dramatist, essayist, and educator at Duke University; consisting of manuscripts, loose manuscripts transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection relating mainly to his publications A Common Room (1954), Mustian (1983), Private Contentment (1984), and to Reynolds Price: A Bibliography, 1949-1984 (1986), compiled by Stuart Wright; also photographic prints; proofs of works Price reviewed for publishers; and printed materials and oversized materials.

Berry (1968, 1980) documenting the life and literary career of the prolific Henry County, Kentucky-born American novelist, poet, environmental activist, and cultural critic, consisting of a broadside entitled The Wheel (1980), published by Palaemon Press, and The Lilies (1968), a poem published in the Southern Poetry Review, Vol. 9, no. 1 (Fall 1968) and autographed Wendell Berry on p. 3.
