The bulk of the Raymond J. Kragness Papers (1943-1946, 2000, 2004) pertains to Mr. Kragness's service in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre in World War II aboard the USS Escambia. Personal items include rites of passage membership cards (such as crossing the Equator), draft board notification, photographs, post cards of San Francisco Bay, course certificates, separation from service records and a brief family history. The remaining items pertain to his service on the USS Escambia, a fleet oiler. Included are the ship's history and directory, newsletter "Eighty Times," a list of ships fuled by the USS Escambia, plans of the day, congratulatory messages from Admiral Halsey, and invitations and tickets for commissioning and decommissioning ceremonies.

This collection contains materials related to the creative writing career of Julie Fay, professor emerita of the English Department at East Carolina University. Included are manuscripts, personal journals, and personal correspondence.

The collection consists of a letter (1/8/1863) containing a description of Brig. Gen. John G. Foster's expedition from New Bern to Kinston and Goldsboro NC and back, 11-20 December 1862, including accounts of engagements at Kinston (14 Dec.), Whitehall (16 Dec.) and Goldsboro Bridge (17 Dec.), from George [?], a soldier in Company B of the 5th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, to his Aunt Maria. Other items include a draft report (12/22/1862) by Colonel Charles R. Codman, 45th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Cadet Regiment), of engagements at Kinston and White Hall, NC, (12/14 through 12/16/1862), and items related to Colonel Codman.

Papers (1819-1820, 1887-1907, 1950) including correspondence, travel journal, grade sheets, picture post cards, tobacco receipts, school attendance book, autograph book and miscellaneous related to the Randolph family in Halifax County, N.C. The travel journal (1819-1820) documents a journey by foot from Norfolk, Va., to Alabama. Ledger books (1912-1930) document accounts for the Randolph Store Co. in Enfield, N.C. .

Items (1928-1941) related to Greenville, NC, resident James Howard Moye; and items (1955) related U.S. Coast Guard rescues in North Carolina. The Zion's Landmark Vol. 23, No. 7 and Vol. 32, No. 7 (10/15/1890 and 2/15/1899) periodical published semi-monthly by Zion's Landmark Print, Wilson, North Carolina (Primitive, or Old School Baptist) that was in the collection has since been transferred to the North Carolina Collection as of 2022.

"A New and Correct Map of the Province of North Carolina by Edward Moseley, late surveyor general of the said province 1733," showing settlements, inhabitants, soil conditions, rivers, and principal products, with insets showing "Port Brunswick or Cape Fear Harbour," "Port Beaufort or Topsail Inlet," "Ocacock (Ocracoke) Inlet," "Explanation," and "Directions for Ocacock (Ocracoke) Inlet". Imperial folio sheets, pasted on linen backing (probably in 18th century) with some insect damage and repairs, and some loss of information. Framed dimensions: 50-1/4" x 62-1/2". Scale: 1" = 5 miles. Diary written by Edward L. Williams, while serving in the United States Marine Corps, describing his voyage, aboard the USS Alaska, to the European Station under the command of Captain Samuel "Powhatan" and under the direct supervision of Captain W. R. Brown, including their cruise along the Italian coast , frequent port calls, shipboard life, behavior of sailors, and his friendships and acquaintances among the ship's crew.

Papers, 1861-2011 (bulk 1940-1992), undated, of Senator Robert Burren Morgan, an ECU alumnus and lawyer, who served the state of North Carolina in a variety of elected and appointed positions. His first elected position was clerk of court in Harnett County. He was elected to the State Senate, served as president pro tempore of the Senate, and was twice elected Attorney General of North Carolina. He served in this position until 1974, when he won the United States Senate seat vacated by Senator Samuel James "Sam" Ervin, Jr. Morgan served as United States Senator from 1975 to 1981. He returned to his law practice following an unsuccessful reelection campaign and later served as Director of the State Bureau of Investigation from 1985 until 1992. Morgan served as a member of the ECU Board of Trustees for fifteen years, including nine terms as chair in the 1960s. He helped the institution achieve university status and was instrumental in establishing the ECU School of Medicine. The collection includes series relating to Morgan's family and personal matters, North Carolina Senate Files, Attorney General Files, United States Senate Files, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Files, and Oversized Materials Files. It includes manuscripts, photographs, audio and video materials, electronic records, printed materials, and ephemera.

Papers (1858-1957) of Rev. John C. Wooten including correspondence, clippings, photographs, postcards, printed materials, and ephemera dealing with the American Civil War, telegraph operations, missionary experiences in Japan, Korea, and China, twentieth-century family life, and other topics.

Records (1948-1984) of the Redevelopment Commission of the City of Greenville, North Carolina, primarily for the Shore Drive Urban Renewal area, including appraisals, boundary description, demolition contracts, financial records, relocation files, acquisition records, reports property photographs, etc.

This collection contains the life history of Lt. Commander Harold Stacey Burdick, who served in the Border War (1910s) and the Tampico Affair (1914), and World War I. It contains letters that he sent to his mother and father and a log journal detailing his accounts while on the USS Jouett. There are also news clippings and pictures of/about Harold Burdick as well as Annapolis and Naval ships like the USS Rhode Island. The collection also contains correspondence between his father, Daniel P. Burdick, and various associations and societies like Brown University, Columbia University and the U.S. Navy.

Papers (1894-1901, 1958-1974, 2009, undated) of a U. S. naval officer (Rear Admiral), graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy, 1872, who served as commander of the European Squadron, 1895, and Mare Island Navy Yard, 1898, and consisting of correspondence, newspaper clippings, genealogical tables, a poem, photographs, and miscellaneous.
