This collection (1976-2010) consists of Cypress Group News newsletters and rough drafts, photographs, correspondence, some meeting minutes, and trip documents concerning the Greenville Chapter (Cypress Group) of the Sierra Club. Also included are materials from the North Carolina Chapter of the Sierra Club concerning political action endorsements and conservation issues.

Papers of Richard Yates (1977) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Yonkers, New York-born American novelist and short story writer, who chronicled the "age of anxiety" and was a creative writing educator at the University of Southern California, and other universities; consisting of bound uncorrected galley proofs of The Easter Parade: A Novel (1977).

Papers of Jonathan Bumas (1986) documenting the life and career of the Forest Hills, New York-born American book illustrator and publisher of children's books, consisting of oversized original art works with captions for Phonethics: Twenty-Two Limericks for the Telephone (1986) by John Ciardi; drawings by Jonathan Bumas, published by Palaemon Press, Limited.

Papers (1937–1950) of U.S. Navy officer, U.S. Naval Academy class of 1941, including correspondence and grade reports of USNA; rosters, photographs, and bulletins from the USS New Mexico (BB-35); newsletters, photographs, and clippings from the USS Quincy (CA-71); Carrier Division 5 (CTF-77) and miscellany.

The papers come from Dr. James Bryant Person and his son James Bryant Person Jr. Included in the collection are account ledgers from Dr. Person and papers related to settling Dr. Person's estate after his death.

This collection contains records (1904-2024) of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Greenville, North Carolina, including correspondence, memos, financial records, reports, minutes, programs, newsletters and publications. Also included are photographs, documents, research notes, and other materials related to the 2013 church history "The People of St. Paul's: Happenings and Memories, 1700-2013" edited by Ann Harrison.

Collection (1763-2013) including correspondence, financial records, legal records, clippings, land records, photographs, clippings, poetry, genealogy and miscellaneous files compiled by William L. Murphy related to genealogy research in Eastern North Carolina.

This collection contains material documenting the life of James Long Newsom, Sr., (1914-2007) of Durham, North Carolina. A graduate of Duke University and Duke University Law School and attended Syracuse University Law School, he began practicing law in Durham in 1938. Correspondence (1931-1940) documents his post-high school education and courtship of his future wife Frances Martin whom he met at Syracuse. As a member of the United States Naval Reserve, he fought in the South Pacific for the years 1942-1945 during World War II and this experience is covered with extensive correspondence, photographs, souvenirs, programs and military newspapers. After the war, he returned to his law practice and continued his Naval Reserve career. Also included are diplomas, certificates, family-related photographs (back to the 1910s), clippings, and genealogy.

Collection (1955-1969) of minutes, agendas, notes, correspondence, reports, and newsletters related to the donor's activities as a board member of the Housing Authority of Greenville, North Carolina, and supporter of public housing.

This collection includes correspondence, reports, clippings, publications, and information concerning Affirmative Action Programs, policies including those related to sexual harassment and discrimination, and records of Employee Resource Groups.

Papers (1908 – 1986, undated [bulk: 1964 – 1986]) of John Porter East, including biographical, genealogical, and historical materials relating to his life (b. 5 May 1931 – 29 June 1986) ; his marriage to Priscilla Sherk East and their children; his service as an officer in the U. S. Marine Corps; his battle against poliomyelitis and the paralysis it caused; his graduate studies in political science and as a professor of Political Science at East Carolina University, 1964 – 1980, including his teaching files for each of his classes, his academic and professional publications, speeches, interviews; and also his conservative Republican political beliefs and affiliations and political career, including his several unsuccessful attempts to win political office in North Carolina, 1966 – 1976, culminating in his successful campaign for and election to the United States Senate in 1980; but the bulk of the collection focuses on his service in the Senate, where he was aligned with Senator Jesse Helms (R-NC) and a member of Helms' political organization, the Congressional Club; including his mailing lists, correspondence and constituent cases and projects files; his office and staff files, including files of this administrative assistants, press secretaries and legislative assistants; his political patronage and nomination files, committee and legislative activities; his voting records, newsletters, voluminous clipping files, press and public relations files, including publications, audio and video of interviews, speeches, and political events; his frequent bouts of ill health due to poliomyelitis, hyperthyroidism, urinary tract blockages, and depression, and their side effects which may have contributed to his death by suicide; also including photographic prints and negatives, microfilm of committee records, correspondence, case and general files, voter registration files; and also oversized materials, 1981 – 1986, undated.

Papers of Irwin Shaw (1970) documenting the life and literary career of the prolific New York City-born American playwright, screenwriter, short story writer and popular novelist; consisting of uncorrected spiral bound proofs of parts one and two of Rich Man, Poor Man, Shaw's most popular novel, which became the source for the first television miniseries.

This map titled "North Carolina" was drawn by Anthony Finley of Philadelphia, PA. It was published as part of his "A New General Atlas, Comprising a Complete Set of Maps, representing the Grand Divisions of the Globe, Together with the several Empires, Kingdoms and States in the World; Compiled from the Best Authorities, and corrected by the Most Recent Discoveries," Philadelphia, 1824, and engraved by Young and Delleker.

This collection (1850-1969; bulk 1860-1889) of papers belonging to Wilmington, New Hanover County, NC, attorneys, who were father and son and both named Marsden Bellamy, includes wills, deeds, estate and mortgage records, legal briefs, correspondence, insurance policies, account books, loan records, receipts of payment, agreements and other legal records.

This collection includes the papers of retired History Professor from Darton College (now part of Albany State University in Georgia) and author Dr. Royce G. Shingleton. These papers document his literary career in the fields of Naval History and mid-nineteenth century American South. His books include High Seas Confederate (about John Newland Maffitt), John Taylor Wood: Sea Ghost of the Confederacy, and Richard Peters: Champion of the New South; he also contributed to William N. Still's book The Confederate Navy. A native of Stantonsburg, North Carolina, Shingleton has done genealogical work relative to the Shingleton family that is also found in this collection.
