Scrapbook, clippings, correspondence, photographs, reports, and other materials related to the World War II career of Lt. Commander Richard Hamilton Smith aboard the USS Teak and the USS Thomas J. Gray, and especially related to the successful evacuation during 7-9 September 1945 of British, Australian and American prisoners of war held by the Japanese at Kiirun, Formosa [Taiwan].

This collection is comprised of annual reports, information about department minors and majors programs, program proposals, chair correspondences, newspapers, and publications.

Correspondence & Financial Records (ca. 1845 - 1917, undated) of merchants, shipbuilders and mercantile family from Elizabeth City and Weeksville, Pasquotank County, NC. Individuals include Woodson Bradford Fearing, Enoch Pratt Fearing, Lizzie Parker Fearing, George Fearing, Pratt Fearing, Woodruff Fearing, Emily Fearing, Emily Ramsay Commander, M. E. Fearing, Joseph Commander and Walter J. Rhode.

Papers (1864-1958 undated) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, lawyer, judge, legislator, and gubernatorial candidate Richard Tillman Fountain consisting of correspondence, report, clippings, newspapers, law practice documents, letters, pamphlets, photographs, clippings, scrapbooks, and reports.

This Record Group contains records created by the College of Business and its units.

The College of Business Administrative Records include annual reports, meeting minutes, self-studies, and publications by the college.

Papers (1782-1956, undated) related to the John Gideon Taylor family of Pitt County, North Carolina, including correspondence, legal papers, estate papers, financial papers, post cards, photographs, newspapers, advertising ephemera, genealogy information, Bible records, and miscellany.

Collection (1733-1943) consisting primarily of Stallings family papers, deeds, land surveys, wills, a Bible record, newspapers, clippings and miscellaneous.

The collection includes notes, hospital nursing manuals, and informational booklets and pamphlets about various diseases and their treatment. The papers belonged to Helen Marion while she was a student nurse in New Jersey in the mid-1950s.

Papers include Goforth's correspondence with the Navy Department following World War II and photograph from time at Woodward-Herring Hospital.

The collection includes materials (1898-1959) documenting the work of Shackleford Banks native Josiah Clark Chadwick working on freighters running from North Carolina to New York, and then with the Army Corps of Engineers in North Carolina (1927-1959) working the Eastern N.C. federal waterway projects on diesel engines and then inspecting dredges. Included are family history, Chadwick's work history, training materials, engineers' level books, logbooks, and inventories of engineering property in Chadwick's charge.

Papers (1831-1946) including correspondence, legal and financial papers, newspapers, articles on local business, hotels, banks, and miscellaneous.

The Alice Morgan Person collection (1874-1943, 2004-2008) contains ledgers, testimonials, advertisements, correspondence, and news clippings related to the Mrs. Joe Person Remedy Company. The Remedy was developed by Alice M. Person (Mrs. Joe Person) of Franklinton, Charlotte, and Kittrell, North Carolina, and marketed by her and later her son Rufus M. Person. Other material pertains to the sale of her arrangements of popular songs, and to family life.

This collection contains the records (1873-2010) of the fraternal secret society Knights of Pythias Grand Lodge, Domain of North Carolina. Records include biennial and annual reports of local lodges, the Records of Proceedings for the annual sessions of the Grand Lodge, financial records, minute book, constitutions and bylaws, publications and items such as the 1909 Pythian Service Book.

Collection (1841-1959, undated) of manuscripts, genealogical materials, photographic prints and printed materials related to the James N. Dickey family of New York and Michigan and William Symington Brown, M. D., who served as a surgeon in the 33rd and 55th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, 1863, during the Civil War. Unrelated is a photograph of U.S. Vice President Barkley attending a Roosevelt Dinner held at East Carolina Teachers College (now ECU) in 1950.
