Mary Virginia Jones Greenville, N.C. Jones describes her family, her childhood, her education at Fleming Street School and C.M. Eppes School in Greenville, N.C. and North Carolina A&T, and her career as a teacher at Kittrell Junior Collge in Kittrell, N.C., and at several Pitt County and Greenville, N.C., schools. Also discusses desegregation in the schools.

Captain Richard E. Foster of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1941 comments on student life at the Academy, his wartime assignments on the USS PENNSYLVANIA and the USS INDIANA, his postwar duty on the USS WRIGHT, and his years as a naval engineer involved in ship design, planning, and production. He also describes witnessing the flag-raising at Iwo Jima from the deck of the USS VICKSBURG.

Oral history interview with Milton P. Fields relates to his experiences as a photographer in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CV-3) during World War II; and also his early life and family background (Interview 1, Sept. 20, 2013) . Interview 2 (Oct. 4, 2013) relates primarily to his post-World War II experiences, including his education at East Carolina University (1945-1949), his law school attendance at Emory University and Wake Forest University (1949-1953); and his life in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, as a prosecuting attorney and partner in a law firm (1950s-2013).
