This collection contains records of Eric G. Flannagan & Sons architectural firm that relate to capital projects on the East Carolina campus.

This collection contains financial records (including also bills of sale for enslaved persons) and deeds (1743-1872), and correspondence (1821-1891) related especially to Elias Fort and Dr. Matthew C. Whitaker of Halifax County, N.C. The correspondence also concerns other members of the Whitaker family and related families.

Papers (1938–1993 [Bulk: 1938–1953]), of U.S. Naval Reserve officer and destroyer escort commander, including official files and service records, and a History of USS SC-631; postwar correspondence relating to the Destroyer Escort Commanders Organization (DECO); a History of the USS Kendall C. Campbell (DE-443), by Cdr. Richard E. Warner; a scrapbook, compiled by Cdr. Warner's father, entitled Sub Chaser Navy: World War II, which documented the achievements of destroyer escorts, and Warner's service in destroyer escorts, patrol craft, and sub-chasers; also oversize material including a blueprint of USS PC-497 [renamed SC-497]; and a laminated fact sheet entitled United States Ship USS Kendall C. Campbell (DE-443) including orders, letters, printed forms, certificates, commissions, and documents signed by Admiral Chester Nimitz; Secretaries of the Navy Frank Knox, Francis P. Matthews, Claude A. Swanson, and James Forrestal; by Governor of California Frank F. Merriam.

Papers (1863-1936, undated) including typewritten transcripts, correspondence, newspaper and periodical articles and miscellany.

Papers (1922-1953) of a Greenville, NC attorney consisting of correspondence, legal records, ledger, railroad company, legal services, brochure, political speech.

This collection (1791-1960) documents the horse and mule business, farm operations, land transactions, saw mill operation, and other business enterprises of Edward Cyrus Winslow (b. 1886) of Tarboro, Edgecombe County, N.C. Included in the collection are correspondence, financial and legal records such as account books, ledgers, bills and receipts, contracts with other mule dealers, promissory notes, agricultural liens and chattel mortgages, deeds, and lease and rental agreements. Also included are superior court records, blueprints of farm tracts and dairy equipment, printed material, business and family photographs, and a small quantity of family correspondence.

Papers (1862-1885) consisting of diary, with description of camp, confederate and activities of knights of Golden Circle.

Collection contains receipts from Nowell's Drug Store in Wendell, North Carolina. The receipts are from ordering medicinal and general supplies between 1915 and 1937.

The majority of the collection relates to Captain Leslie Avery Shaw's military service in the U.S. Army, especially during World War II when he served in the 11th AAA, 49th AAA Brigade, VII Corps, U.S. First Army in Europe. Included are maps and overlays concerning operations at Utah Beach at Normandy, orders, citations, reports, photographs, letters, postcards, military ribbons and insignia, and items from his personal military file. Additional items including many photographs document his personal life after the war. Photographs, printed material and memorabilia from the 1950s and early 1960s relate to the early years of his son Robert Avery Shaw's life in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Collection (ca. 1987 – 2004) of maps, photographs, correspondence, genealogical research on the descendents of Shadrack Allen, Sr., newspaper clippings, photocopies, and other printed sources, including transcriptions of manuscript materials, concerning President George Washington's historic "Southern Tour" of 1791, focusing especially on those events occurring in Pitt County, North Carolina.

Lemuel Showell Blades, III, (1933-2011) began his career as a lawyer and then went on to become the president of the Norfolk Telephone Company while serving on a number of committees in Elizabeth City, and New Bern, North Carolina. This collection spans from 1711-2011 and includes newspaper clippings, photographs, genealogical charts, letters, oral histories, books, videos, and career files. The strength of this collection is the genealogical overview of the several generations linking to the Blades family.

This candid and detailed World War I diary (April 25, 1918-March 12, 1919) was kept by Carl Whittlesey of Barton County, MO, during his service with the 313 Engineers 88th Division. He kept detailed entries regarding his training at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa, his participation in the Alsace Campaign in France, and his involvement in developing the war ravaged areas in Europe.

Cunningham (1942-1983) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Cumberland, Maryland-born American poet, literary critic and educator at various colleges including Brandeis University, 1953-1980; consisting of an oversized printed broadside entitled J. V. Cunningham: Two Poems (1983), including two poems printed on separate sheets inserted into slits in a third sheet; also including loose manuscript items transferred from works in the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including: Bibliography of the Published Works of J. V. Cunningham (1964), The Helmsman (1942), and Woe or Wonder (1951) and other items by J. V. Cunningham.
