Note: Includes 15 pages of photographic prints tipped in; historical account of the Hurdle Mills Game Club, in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina, which provided winter hunting for northerners; includes photographic prints of local buildings and people; R. L. Jones was elected first vice president of the club (1908); Stuart Wright note inside front cover: "Charles (Charlie) Lawson was my maternal grandmother's brother, Person County, NC."

Papers of Mary Eloise von Schrader Jarrell (1965-2012, undated) documenting the life and literary career the St. Louis, Missouri-born, memoirist and patron of the arts, who was the widow and literary executor of poet and educator Randall Jarrell (1914-1965) consisting of correspondence with Stuart Wright, typescripts, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, printed materials, and oversized materials relating primarily to her life with Randall Jarrell and the promotion of his works and literary influence on American poetry.

Papers of Charles Wright (1970-1986) the noted Pickwick Dam, Tennessee-born American poet and educator at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville; including broadsides, correspondence & typescripts related to a bibliography of Wright's work by Stuart Wright & loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection related to publications by Charles Wright.

Papers of Robert Buffington (1979), documenting the life of the noted Illinois-born American literary critic and educator, biographer of John Crowe Ransom and proposed biographer of Allen Tate, who was also managing editor at The University of Georgia Press, consisting of an article entitled Young Hawk Circling, related to the early life of Allen Tate, originally published in The Southern Review (Fall 1979).

Papers of Lincoln Fitzell (1958) documenting the life and literary career of noted the San Francisco, California-born poet, who also worked as a longshoreman; consisting of manuscript typescripts of his literary essays, short stories, poems, and a novel The Sword and the Dragon (1958).

The Phoenix Historical Society: African American History of Edgecombe County was founded in 2001 to recover, record, and promote the unique history of Edgecombe County (North Carolina) as experienced by members of its African American community. This collection contains the society's official records, brochures, event programs, and publications related to research, community events and sponsored projects.

This collection contains information on people, places, and events arranged by subject. Many items are not originals.

The majority of this collection pertains to James V. Lobell of Maryland who was a leader in the footwear industry from 1913 to 1961; he founded Cavalier Shoe Polish Company which was purchased by KIWI in 1961. Included are business and personal correspondence, photographs, reports, shoe catalogs, and bound issues of Shoes and Leather Reporter (1910s-1920s). Papers also reflect his involvement with the Boy Scouts, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (especially during WWII), and Business Education among other topics. The donor wrote his master's thesis on Lobell's life and materials related to his research are included, too. Unrelated to Mr. Lobell are clippings (1969-1978) and posters concerning Rose High School (Greenville, North Carolina) football and baseball teams; a broadside "Chronology of Pitt County History" created by Jessamine Shumate (1953); and North Carolina public school education-related documents (1906-1933).

Negative files (1920-1967) and electronic files (on CDs) of photographs (1968-1989) used for the publishing of The Daily Reflector newspaper. The collection documents daily news and events in Greenville, NC and its surrounding area.

Papers (1897-1972, undated) of a U. S. Naval officer, a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy, 1905, who commanded the destroyer USS JARVIS during World War I, and as ordnance inspector at the U. S. Naval Ammunition Depot during World War II, consisting of correspondence, a war diary, orders, proceedings, reports, thesis, albums, photographs, postal cards, financial records, citations, certificates, biographies and miscellaneous.
