The Biographical Sketch of Francois-Xavier Martin Collection consists of a single item dated March 1922. The collection includes a biographical sketch of François-Xavier Martin written by Romulus A. Nunn, along with accompanying correspondence from Judge Henry Groves Connor. The materials document an early twentieth century account of Martin's life and legacy and provide contextual insight into the creation and exchange of the biographical work.

This is a 1714 map by Pieter Vander Aa (of Leiden, Netherlands) illustrating Ponce De Leon's travels and discoveries in North and South Carolina. The map is based on the earlier Hondius-Mercator map of the area among others. 12" x 9", hand-colored copper plate engraving with decorative board. Decorative board depcits European with spears, guns, swords and sheilds killing Indigenous people holding spears, arrows and shields. Title is in Dutch, text in French and Latin. Watermak is a strasburg Lilly with a crown over countermarks 4 w qA.

Papers of the Historic Halifax Garden Association include official documents (1975-1999) such as the constitution and by-laws, papers regarding tax-exempt status and a photocopy of the check handing over the remaining assets of the association to the Historical Halifax Restoration Association; two secretarial notebooks (1981-1989); a guestbook used at the opening of the Restored Eagle Tavern in Historic Halifax (June 29, 1981) and records belonging to past president Gwen B. Dickens (1975, 1979-1989) such as orders of business, attendance records, membership dues records, correspondence and material related to projects.

Collection (ca. 1987 – 2004) of maps, photographs, correspondence, genealogical research on the descendents of Shadrack Allen, Sr., newspaper clippings, photocopies, and other printed sources, including transcriptions of manuscript materials, concerning President George Washington's historic "Southern Tour" of 1791, focusing especially on those events occurring in Pitt County, North Carolina.

Papers (1889, 1907-1958) consisting of correspondence, diaries, yearbooks, scrapbook, songbook, typescript, travel accounts, photographs, newsletters, etc., related to attendance at Salem Academy and College (1908-1911) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and to the work (1917 to 1950) of Protestant Episcopal music missionary Venetia Cox (of Greenville, North Carolina) in China. Also includes letters and school materials related to Lo-I (or Louis) Yin who attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, from 1949 to 1951 on a scholarship related to Venetia Cox's music missionary work with Huachung University, Wuchang, Hupeh, China.

This collection contains Mary Stephenson Hammel's items from her time as a student at East Carolina which are her diploma, publication award for her work on the yearbook, and letter patch for her participation in the Women's Athletic Association. Additionally, there is a 2005 photograph of Mary and a copy of the Alumni Association's booklet made for the class of 1955's Golden Alumni event.

Marine Corps aviation officer (Major Gen.) who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and who retired as commander of the Cherry Point, NC Marine Air Station, including correspondence, reports, war diaries, citations, certificates, and military records.
