ZamZam, an Egyptian-owned ship, its crew and passengers, including 120 American missionaries (from 21 different denominations), tobacco buyers and other passengers traveling from New York to Alexandria, Egypt, via Capetown, South Africa, who survived sinking by the German raider Tamesis 17 April 1941, including newspaper and magazine clippings, photographs, periodicals, correspondence, and photocopies of an autobiographical account.

Joseph G. Boyette Papers

Autobiography of Joseph Greene Boyette's life from his childhood (born 1929) upbringing in eastern North Carolina until 1952 when he got out of the U.S. Navy and headed to Duke University to take classes. Boyette actually starts his memoir with some information on the extremely hard upbringing his mother (born 1903) had and also includes a section of notes that his mother wrote about the childhood experiences of her 3 boys.

5th North Carolina Infantry Regiment Collection

Partial casualty report (7/6/1863) for the 5th North Carolina Infantry at the Battle of Gettysburg 1 - 3 July 1863, missing pages 1 - 4, but recording the wounded of part of Company G, all of companies H, and K, and including a complete recapitulation of the regiment's losses: killed (39), wounded (235), and missing (55), signed by 2d Lt. Edward S. Smedes who was later killed in action at Spotsylvania Court House, VA.
