Collection (ca. 1941—1959) of correspondence, manuscripts, printed forms, and printed works relating to the Sanderson family of Kinston, North Carolina, and the military service of Cpl. Claude Sanderson Jr. in Co. H, 129th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division, and Pfc. James Earl Sanderson in Battery A, 449th Field Artillery Observation Battalion and Co. B, 1st Brigade, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division.

Papers (1942-1945) of a U.S. Naval officer, USNA Class of 1941, consisting of Battle of Vella Gulf battle reports (1943), a history of the USS Lang (DD-399), USS Lang action reports (Feb. 1942-April 1944), naval communiques relating to USS Lang (1942-1944), and after-action reports for the battles of Vella Gulf, Guadalcanal, Wewak, (New Guinea), Morotai, Leyte Gulf, Okinawa, Lingayen Gulf, and other Pacific Ocean operations in which the USS Lang participated (1942-1945)

Papers (1920-1975) including correspondence, reports, financial records, clippings, photographs, posters, and miscellaneous materials.

The collection has papers from the Massengill family, specifically John David, Samuel Evans, and Pauline (Massengill) DeFriece. Included are John's account books, booklets, DeFriece's correspondence with the Country Doctor Museum, photographs, and information about the S. E. Massengill Company.

This collection contains over 100 letters (1885, 1892-1897) written to Sallie Dromgoole Cotten (1876-1972), daughter of Sallie Swepson Southall Cotten and Robert Randolph Cotten, either while she was at home at Cottendale in Falkland, Pitt County, North Carolina, or at Notre Dame of Maryland Preparatory School and Collegiate Institute in Baltimore. The letters are written mainly by Sallie's female friends, but also some male friends in the 1890s (1892-1897) The correspondents are family, associates, and friends, especially schoolmates. Topics are mainly related to interests of college women and men. Also included are ephemera such as dance cards and dance invitations especially to "German" dances which were large popular events among wealthy white families in Eastern North Carolina tobacco towns in the 1890s.

Papers (1909-1938) including diaries, notebook of reminiscences, an expense book and other financial records, photographs, post cards, a map, certificates, diplomas, bonds and miscellany.

Includes information about the grant project, biographical sketches for each physician featured, and video recordings of all four public forums.

Interview (1940-1999) with ECC graduate, 1962, from Havelock, NC who became an English teacher and school counselor at Havelock schools, including Havelock High School, 1968-1995, pertaining to years at ECC, teaching, memberships in the Winterville Historical Society and Pitt County Historical Society. The collection consists of photographs, diplomas and other educational records, correspondence, artifacts, and ephemera from Clara G. Gentry, a registered nurse.

Papers (1762-1902, undated) documenting the life of the Noble family from the Chicod Township of Pitt County and the Creeping Swamp and Swift Creek areas of Craven County. The bulk of the collection includes material related to the activities of Celina Clark Noble (1829-) and her family and includes land records, land description and surveys, promissory notes, mortgages and other legal papers, bank notes, ballads, financial papers, receipts, etc. Also included is the Civil War correspondence (1864-1865) of Corporal E. E. (Evans Everette) Noble (1829-1895) of the 67th Regiment North Carolina Infantry to his wife Susan J. Noble (1837-1873) while serving throughout Eastern North Carolina.

Ledger (1880-1897) of Kinston, N.C., physician, Dr. Henry Otis Hyatt, containing accounts of patients, medical cures for illnesses, and the constitution, by-laws, and minutes of the Kinston Commercial and Trade Association. A native of Tarboro, N.C., he moved his practice to Kinston, N.C., in 1872 and established Dr. Hyatt's Sanatorium for the Diseases of the Eye and General Surgery in 1891. Dr. Hyatt was one of the best known and skilled physicians in the state, and had one of the first "free clinics" in this country. Dr. Hyatt was also instrumental in the development of the Kinston Commercial and Trade Association, later known as "The Merchants Association."

Papers (1853-1946, 1962) consisting of correspondence, legal records, financial records, business memos, receipts, reports, photographs, clippings and miscellaneous related to a family of tobacconists living in Lynchburg, Virginia, and then settling in Greenville, North Carolina.

Lemuel Showell Blades, III, (1933-2011) began his career as a lawyer and then went on to become the president of the Norfolk Telephone Company while serving on a number of committees in Elizabeth City, and New Bern, North Carolina. This collection spans from 1711-2011 and includes newspaper clippings, photographs, genealogical charts, letters, oral histories, books, videos, and career files. The strength of this collection is the genealogical overview of the several generations linking to the Blades family.
