This collection consists of digital audio recordings of the weekly radio program What's Happening on Ocracoke?, hosted by Peter Vankevich and broadcast on WOVV 90.1 FM in Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. The recordings document local news, civic issues, and community events and include interviews and discussions with local officials, organization representatives, and community members. Topics addressed include town governance, public services, cultural activities, and issues affecting daily life on Ocracoke Island.

Papers (1870-1981, undated) compiled by Mary Lee Pittman Post, concerning her family, education at Greenville High School and East Carolina Teachers College, and her teaching career at Currituck Elementary School, including photographic prints, correspondence, financial records, printed forms and printed materials relating to the Pittman, Coffield and related families of Currituck, Greenville, Scotland Neck, and Tillery, in Currituck, Pitt, and Halifax counties, North Carolina.

This collection includes 108 Chatham County, North Carolina, warrants (1804-1840); 2 Onslow County, North Carolina, grants (1788, no date); and 1897 financial receipt with 4 handwritten medicinal cures by Wyley M. Cates of Teer and Alamance County, NC, and print ads for his cures.

This collection contains genealogical files belonging to avid genealogist Sylvia Corey (July 10, 1925–November 9, 2020) of Greenville, N.C. Included are files related mainly to the Corey (of Martin County) and Leggett (of Beaufort County) families, but also to the Gorham, Baker, Davis, Whitmell, and Wynne families among many others. Some files are related to her work with the Pitt County Family Researchers group. Also contains a zip file of born-digital genealogy material created using "Reunion" software.

Papers (1863-1864) consisting of diaries with activities of battle.

This collection contains a journal (November 21, 1894 – February 28, 1896) kept by Gilbert Smith Galbraith while he was serving as a U.S. Naval Cadet on board the USS Columbia. The USS Columbia was a Second Line Cruiser first commissioned on April 23, 1894, serving in the U.S. Navy until it was sold for scrap on January 23, 1922. Galbraith includes detailed technical descriptions of the ship and its components along with diagrams, blueprints, scale plans, maps, photographic prints, cyanotypes and various ephemera. Additionally, Galbraith records the ship's activities from November 21, 1894, to February 28, 1896.

The Alice Morgan Person collection (1874-1943, 2004-2008) contains ledgers, testimonials, advertisements, correspondence, and news clippings related to the Mrs. Joe Person Remedy Company. The Remedy was developed by Alice M. Person (Mrs. Joe Person) of Franklinton, Charlotte, and Kittrell, North Carolina, and marketed by her and later her son Rufus M. Person. Other material pertains to the sale of her arrangements of popular songs, and to family life.

The collection is papers found in a doctor's bag belonging to Dr. Bennett E. Stephenson. The papers include advertisements, useful prescription information cards, handwritten notes, and notes with formularies for ringworm.

Papers of Rosanna Warren (1964-1989, [Bulk: 1981-1984], undated) documenting the life and literary career the Fairfield, Connecticut-born American poet and educator at Boston University, who was the daughter of writers and poets Robert Penn Warren (#1169-014) and Eleanor Clark (#1169-070); consisting of an uncorrected proof of Each Leaf Shines Separate: Poems (1984); also loose manuscript items transferred from her works in the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including from Each Leaf Shines Separate: Poems (1984), Joey Story: A Ten Year Old Girl's Story of Her Dog (1964), Snow Day (1981) and from New England Review, Vol. 4, no. 2 (1982).

Papers (1949-1950) including correspondence, by-laws, resolutions, committees, financial reports and clippings relating to organization established to show sympathy to widow of murder victim.

Files (1717-1957) of Murfreesboro, N.C. lawyers and Hertford County, N.C. officals, including correspondence, legal files, reports, financial records, etc. of B.B. Winborne, Attorney at Law, Winborne & Lawrence, Winborne and Winborne, Lemuel R. Jernigan and James L. Anderson.

Papers (1830 – 2010, undated) [Bulk: 1940-1970] documenting the life of Robert Lee Humber, Jr., who was born 30 May 1898 – and died 10 November 1970, in Greenville, North Carolina; after attending local schools he earned a BA from Wake Forest College, 1921; he then attended Oxford University in the United Kingdom as a Rhodes Scholar, 1921-1923; he then earned a MA from Harvard University in 1936; he moved to Paris, France, in 1926, where he married and served as an American Field Service fellow, 1926-1928, and subsequently earned a fortune as an international lawyer, art dealer, and businessman, 1930-1940, until the Fall of France, in 1940, when he, his wife, and their two sons, John and Marcel, fled the German invasion - his infant daughter Eileen died during their escape - and he returned to North Carolina, where he purchased a farm on Davis Island, established a legal career, and devoted himself to public service and to a wide range of philanthropic causes, as an educator, civic, cultural, political and religious leader; beginning in 1940, he became well-known nationally and internationally for establishing and leading the World Federation movement as a way to promote lasting world peace through international law; statewide for persuading the General Assembly and the Kress Foundation of New York to fund and establish the North Carolina Museum which opened in 1956; also as an art collector and patron of local and regional volunteer organizations; as a Democratic state senator from Pitt County, 1958-1964; as an educator who led the effort to create Pitt Technical Institute (later Pitt Community College); as a leader in the Southern Baptist denomination becoming a member of the Board of Trustees of Wake Forest College and other Baptist institutions; and as an attorney and business leader and developer; additionally, the collection includes historical files documenting the history of the World Federation in the United States, compiled by his son, John Leslie Humber.

This collection (1791-1960) documents the horse and mule business, farm operations, land transactions, saw mill operation, and other business enterprises of Edward Cyrus Winslow (b. 1886) of Tarboro, Edgecombe County, N.C. Included in the collection are correspondence, financial and legal records such as account books, ledgers, bills and receipts, contracts with other mule dealers, promissory notes, agricultural liens and chattel mortgages, deeds, and lease and rental agreements. Also included are superior court records, blueprints of farm tracts and dairy equipment, printed material, business and family photographs, and a small quantity of family correspondence.

Personal Correspondence (December 30, 1861-September 16, 1862; April 1863) written by William Wilberforce Douglas to his family members during his service in the Fifth Rhode Island Volunteers and in General Ambrose Burnside's Expeditionary Corps in North Carolina. Letters, copied by his mother, Sarah Sawyer Douglas, from originals into a single bound journal, include references to his time at the battles of Roanoke Island, New Bern, and Fort Macon. Additionally, the journal includes newspaper clippings accounting his exploits in the war.

This collection includes reminiscences by Peggy Rose Roberts Worthington (born December 29, 1931) of her life in Pitt County from childhood on a tobacco farm to the present that she wrote in 2012 and 2013 while participating in an East Carolina University Lifelong Learning Program creative writing course. Also found in this collection are photocopies of genealogical material and photographs pertaining to the Buck family of Pitt County, North Carolina, and the affiliated Jarrell family of North Carolina and South Carolina compiled by Lillie Mae Kite Buck.
