The Louis Orr Collection contains a set of forty-eight prints of the original fifty-one print set (and one replacement print) made from etchings of North Carolina historical landmarks and architectural sites. The etchings were created from 1939 to 1952 by artist Louis Orr, a world-renown etcher, at the behest of North Carolina resident Robert Lee Humber who wanted to preserve North Carolina's heritage by providing the artwork to schools, colleges, public libraries and institutions throughout the state.

Papers (1791, 1846-1941) including correspondence, diaries, visitation books, account books, memoranda books, financial papers, minute books, photographs, land records and miscellaneous.

The papers consist mainly of correspondence, North Carolina Medical Society presidential address and gavel, playbill and study guide, curriculum vitae, photographs, and newspaper articles.

Original material collected by Horace H. Mewborn, Jr. including printed maps, letters, diaries, clippings, cartes de visite, tintypes, an ambrotype, memoir, ledgers, reports, and drawings related to the Civil War especially pertaining to Col. John S. Mosby and his 43rd Virginia Cavalry Battalion, Col. Elijah V. White and his 35th Virginia Cavalry Battalion, North Carolina Cavalry Units, and the battles fought in the New Bern, NC, vicinity. Also included is his voluminous research related to the above listed units and the Army of Northern Virginia and the Army of the South.

J. Con Lanier elaborates on experiences as a World War I soldier in France and Germany, and on his career as a tobacconist involved with grading systems, development of export markets, tobacco taxes, acreage quotas, and changes in marketing and production methods.

Professional and personal correspondence, newspaper clippings, press releases, reports, and miscellany for the period 1944 through 2011, bulk dates 1962 to 1982, related to the career of Janice Hardison Faulkner at East Carolina University, with the Democratic Party in North Carolina and as the holder of several high level positions in North Carolina government.

Collection (1936, 1941-1942) consisting of a photograph album of the S.S. ZamZam, an Egyptian-owned ship, its crew and passengers, including 120 American missionaries (from 21 different denominations), tobacco buyers and other passengers traveling from New York to Alexandria, Egypt, via Capetown, South Africa, who survived sinking by the German raider Tamesis 17 April 1941, including newspaper and magazine clippings, photographs, periodicals, correspondence, and photocopies of an autobiographical account.

Records (1903-1998, undated [Bulk: 1987-1998) of the Robeson House Preservation Association, reflecting their to preserve the historic Robeson – Whichard - Taylor house in Pitt County, North Carolina, including correspondence, reports, photographs, drawings, grant applications, etc.

The Vertical File contains brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, and other printed ephemeral material pertaining to North Carolina people, organizations, places, history, and events. Files on a county, for example, typically include brochures / maps pertaining to natural or historic sites, cultural events, and local businesses.

Papers of William Alexander Percy (2016) concerning the wealthy Greenville, Mississippi-raised planter, lawyer, noted poet and memoirist, whose father, Leroy Percy, served as U. S. Senator from Mississippi, 1910-1913; consisting of loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection volume of Percy's poems, entitled Enzio's Kingdom and Other Poems; also Stuart Wright's note that he gave the book to commemorate George Core's retirement as editor of Sewanee Review (2016); also Stuart Wright's email correspondence with Percy's biographer, Benjamin E. Wise, and East Carolina University faculty members, Thomas Douglass, and Maurice C. York regarding Wise's collection of works by Percy (2016).
