Papers of Jesse Stuart (1955-1977) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Riverton, Kentucky-born American school teacher, educator, short story writer, novelist, and autobiographer consisting of a typescript of My Health is Better in November (1977) and other poems; and reprints of the poem One Body (1955) and of the short story Two Worlds (1967) by Jesse Stuart.

Collection (1766-2010) consists of items related to the Augustus Moore (June 8, 1803-March 23, 1851) family of Chowan and Halifax Cos., N.C., his children Augustus Minton Moore, William Armistead Moore, Henrietta Moore Sutton, Susan Augustus Moore Righton, Mary Elizabeth Moore, Alfred Moore and John Armistead Moore, and the descendants of John Armistead Moore. Included are account books, legal records, land transactions, estate records, correspondence, clippings, and autograph books (1855, 1865) belonging to family members who attended Miss Willard's Female Seminary in Troy, N.Y., and Patapsco Female Institute in Ellicott City, Maryland. Also included are identified photographs (cartes de visite, tintypes, cased pictures, albums) of the Moore, Gilliam, and Skinner, families, religious books such as Roman Catholic Missals, Episcopal Books of Common Prayer and Bibles, UNC-Chapel Hill diplomas (1824), and items related to the 1878 Exposition in Paris, France.

Papers of Wright Morris (1950-1985, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Central City, Nebraska-born American novelist, photographer, and essayist, including his correspondence with William Cole, who edited his novel Man and Boy; also uncorrected proofs of the third installment of his autobiography, A Cloak of Light: Writing My Life, photographic prints, printed materials, and loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

Papers of Robert Morgan (1967-1984) documenting the life and literary career of the noted North Carolina mountains-born American poet, short story writer, biographer and educator at Cornell University, 1971-, who specializes in Appalachian regional topics; consisting of correspondence with Stuart Wright, typescripts of his poem Glacier, a printed broadside of Portfolio / 1967: Lillabulero Press: Poems by Russell Banks – Douglas Collins – William Matthews – Robert Morgan – Newton Smith – Peter Wild (Chapel Hill, 1967); and an oversized newspaper entitled The Times Monitor, Ithaca, New York, (1984) inscribed by Robert Morgan to Stuart Wright.

Papers of May Sarton (1973) the noted Belgian-born American poet, novelist, and essayist, who wrote of life's personal trials and struggles; consisting of spiral bound, paperback, galley proofs of her novel As We Are Now: A Novel, by May Sarton (1973).

Papers (1830-2014, undated) [Bulk: 1895-1970] of the Humber Family, documenting the lives of Robert Lee Humber, Jr. (1898-1970) and his extended family, including the papers of his father, Robert Lee Humber, Sr. (1864-1952), a businessman and inventor and his mother, Lena Clyde Davis Humber (1870-1936) and her family, of Kinston, Greenville and Davis Island, North Carolina; his siblings, John Davis Humber, MD (1895-1991), Leslie Mumford Humber (1907-1925), and Lena Dye Humber Smith (1902-1973); also including his wife, Lucie Julie Jeanne Berthier Humber (1895-1982) and the Berthier family of Villeneuve and Paris, France, and their children and grandchildren, families, educations, careers, activities, and writings; including correspondence, files, ephemera, museum objects, published materials and oversized materials, arranged generally in alphabetical order by the donors.

This collection holds menhaden fishing ledgers from 1949 to 1962 with information on how much an individual was paid each pay period plus the amount of taxes withheld, the individual's race, the number of dependents, and other information. These ledgers cover boats and workers who were part of the Beaufort By-Products Co., Inc., fleet of Menhaden fishing boats based out of Beaufort, North Carolina.

Willard and Daisy Rowe Papers (1963-2006) contain newsletters,clippings, publications and a poster documenting the work of the Evangelical Baptist Mission in Franklin County, North Carolina, and in Guatemala.

Personal files (1939-1989), related to Leo Warren Jenkins outside of his positions at East Carolina University (and when it was called East Carolina College), including correspondence, clippings, reports, a manuscript, photographs, ephemera, programs, and U.S. Marine Corps documents and WWII service medals.

Papers (1805-1968; bulk 1860-1916) consisting of correspondence of a political nature, family-related correspondence, speeches, financial papers, farm records, farm account books, clippings, photographs, a diary and printed material related to Elias Carr and other members of the Carr and related families. Elias Carr (1839-1900) of Edgecombe County, a member of the Democratic Party, was the governor of North Carolina (1893-1897) and president of the N.C. State Farmers' Alliance and Industrial Union (1889-1892).

Collection (ca. 1899-2011, undated) documenting the history of Pepsi-Cola in New Bern, N.C.; the involvement of the Minges family in the soft drink business, 1923-1992, in Greenville, Tarboro, and Rocky Mount, N.C.; and the Minges Bottling Group, Inc., of Ayden, N.C. Materials include clippings, correspondence, contracts and financial records, advertising materials, photographic prints and compact discs, printing plates, printed materials, trademark registration certificates, video recordings, ephemera,etc. Digital files document the history of the Minges family of Catawba and Pitt Counties, North Carolina, and the history of the Minges Bottling Group.

Papers (1945-1949 [Bulk 1945]) consisting of black & white photographic prints taken by U.S. Army Master Sergeant Alvis Whitted Mewborn in France, Germany, and Austria, during his service in the 131st Evacuation Hospital, 11th Armored Division, U.S. Third Army, during World War II, featuring photographs of Mauthausen Concentration Camp & Camp Gusen #1, near Mauthausen, Austria, where the Germans held mainly Italian but also Russian and Serbian prisoners of war about 9,000 of whom died in the camp; including views of the prisoners, alive and dead, the underground Messerschmitt factory, the quarry, the railroad siding, the camp cemetery and camp chapel built by the Americans after they liberated the camp; care and treatment of the survivors, etc.; Palais de Chaillot, in Paris, France; Ulm Cathedral in Ulm, Germany; St. Florian's Monastery near Enns, Austria; also views of homes belonging to Hermann Goering and Adolf Hitler at Berchtesgaden, Germany; street scenes and the Palais de Chaillot in Paris, France; and post-war Mewborn family and fishing scenes in the Outer Banks, North Carolina.
