This collection consists of three diaries (1915-1917) written by John Ambrose Chalk documenting daily weather, agricultural activities, and interesting social events in Chowan County, North Carolina. He and his family were living on Mulberry Hill Farm while he managed the farm for Mr. Henry Wood of Edenton, N.C. Also included are transcriptions of the diaries provided by the donor along with family information, and indices to places mentioned and interesting events.

The ship's log of the US Brig Porpoise, dated 19 February 1845 to 16 June 1846, was kept during a cruise from New York to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. It details navigational statistics, weather reports, sightings and hailing of other ships, and punishments of crew infractions. The author was probably Midshipman Benjamin Lee Henderson and the log was signed in fifteen places by Lt. Commander William E. Hunt.

Papers of Richard Herman McLawhorn, Jr. (1923-1987) of Ayden Township, Pitt County, North Carolina that are related to his childhood and his service during World War II as a bombardier on the bomber "Tail Heavy" with the U.S. Army Air Corps 485th Bomb Group.

Whitfield, Supervisor for "Colored" schools; scrapbooks, scrapbook materials, and news clippings (1970s–1990s) for Third Street School, C.M. Eppes, Greenville Middle School, Agnes Fullilove School and other Pitt County schools; building specifications (1968-1973) related to Pitt County Schools; John Edwin Scoville Memorial Cups (1923-1928).

The collection contains papers related to Dr. Mabe's personal medical practice, personal papers, product advertisements, and journal.

This collection includes letters mailed to Thomas Milton Carr, Jr. from May through December 1864 while he was serving in Company B of 2nd North Carolina Junior Reserves. Correspondents were mainly family members living in Martindale in Mecklenburg County, N.C., and nearby counties. Topics are news related to the Civil War, events of daily life and the effect of the war on them, and information related to friends and family members serving in the Confederate Army.

This collection consists of digital audio recordings of the weekly radio program What's Happening on Ocracoke?, hosted by Peter Vankevich and broadcast on WOVV 90.1 FM in Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. The recordings document local news, civic issues, and community events and include interviews and discussions with local officials, organization representatives, and community members. Topics addressed include town governance, public services, cultural activities, and issues affecting daily life on Ocracoke Island.

Collection (1862-1994) containing correspondence, service records, photographic prints, newspapers, newsletters and clippings, scrapbook, publications, pamphlets and other miscellaneous papers relating to the American Civil War, the Spanish American War, World War I and World War II; also relating to the U.S. Navy, its ships, stations, and personnel; donated by various individuals to the U. This collection contains minutes from several eastern North Carolina Primitive Baptist churches including Mill Branch (1882-1998) and Nashville (1896-1983) churches in Nash County, Briery Swamp Church (1991-2006), and Kehukee (1971-1994) and Contentnea (October 1985) Primitive Baptist Associations. Other records include expense accounts and correspondence for Mill Branch Church; Bible records for the Barnhill family; correspondence and publications relating to a schism (1979) between Elder David Spangler and Brethren Eldon Gilbert and St. Clair Graham of Ontario, Canada; forms and clippings related to the Norfolk and Briery Creek Associations; and miscellaneous items.
