A collection (ca. 1885-1918, undated) of 55 cartes de visite and cabinet cards mounted on cardboard, a scrapbook containing 11 snapshots, a manuscript, and printed materials belonging to John Miller Faison, a North Carolina physician, Democratic Party leader, and Congressman from the N.C. Third District between 1911 and 1915.

Records (1927-2012) including photographic slides & compact discs illustrating City of Greenville Police Department public relations, detective squad, and traffic control operations, including inspections, personnel, court and trail procedures, training programs, including first aid training, bomb disposal, and riot training; also including a letter from Stuart Savage, Senior Writer, The Daily Reflector; to Sergeant Joe Friday & 2 compact discs containing reproductions of black and white and color slides of police operations.

Diaries, journals and letters (1897-1906, 1986-1988) of Mormon missionaries in Eastern North Carolina (1897-1906), including William A. Adams, 1900-1902, James Godfrey, 1899-1901, William M. Hansen, 1897-1898, William R. Hobbs, 1901-1903, Lewis Johnson, 1903-1905, William A. Petty, 1905-1906, and James Taylor, 1900-1902, along with Memoirs, Notes, clippings, anecdotes and other materials compiled by Joel Grant Handcock, for use in the book Strengthened by the Storm.

Papers of Theodore Weiss (1971, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Reading, Pennsylvania-born American poet, educator, and editor, who was one of the founders of the Quarterly Review of Literature, in 1943; consisting of an advance reader's copy of Breath of Clowns and Kings: Shakespeare's Early Comedies and Histories (1971), a collection of literary essays, by Weiss; also including an envelope containing a collection of 25 bookmarks distributed by the New York Quarterly (undated) with a quote from poet John Keats' letter to J. H. [John Hamilton] Reynolds (1794-1852), dated 17 April 1817, each bookmark was autographed by a leading contemporary poet, writer, or other literary figure.

Administrative records of The William E. Laupus Health Sciences Library includes papers, publications, and photographs.

Papers (1780-1969; bulk 1808-1924) including correspondence, land records, legal papers, financial papers, ledgers, etc., of two prominent Eastern North Carolina families--Grimes and Bryan--related through marriage. Other material concerns the Wharton and Conrad families of Clemmonsville, North Carolina, in Davidson County, who are also related by marriage to the Grimes family.

The collection consists primarily of photographic, blueprint, journals, class photos, and other advertising materials used and/or created by the Medical News & Information department of East Carolina University.

Papers (1839-1883, 1930) consisting of correspondence, sermons, notebooks, magazine, newspapers, church conference, reports, writings, theological manuscripts, etc.

Collection (1753-1852) including deeds concerning Bladen and Bath counties (NC).

Papers (1943-1945, 1957, 1990-1995) of USS Wiseman (DE-667) crewmember, including diaries, correspondence, notes, photographs, clippings and miscellany which document his World War II service.

Papers (1831-1946) including correspondence, legal and financial papers, newspapers, articles on local business, hotels, banks, and miscellaneous.

This collection (1821-2007) contains several groups of family history-related papers concerning eastern North Carolina and a large number of unrelated miscellaneous items such as photographs, church records, Bible records, and rare printed items on a variety of subjects. The majority of the family papers concern the Croom and Whitfield families of Lenoir County, N.C. Other family papers concern the Harvey family of Greene County, N.C., the Jordan and Waters families of Washington, N.C., the Meeks family of Pitt County, the Outlaw family of Lenoir County and the Thompson family of Georgia. A large part of this collection concerns the Ficklen family of Greenville, N.C., including scrapbooks, diaries, an autograph book and a post card collection. Some items concern the colorful poet, magazine editor, railroad speculator, paper mill owner, Civil War blockade-runner, and sea captain Appleton Oaksmith who lived in Carteret County, N.C., for fifteen years (1872-1887). Also included are ambrotype photographs of Confederate Civil War soldiers James Needham Alexander, who served in Company A, 11th North Carolina Troops (Infantry) and Stanhope Washington Alexander, who served in Company H, 35th North Carolina Regiment.

Collection (1852-2014) includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, printed materials, and other items compiled by retired East Carolina University English professor emeritus Dr. Ralph Hardee Rives (1930-2016) relating primarily to the Hardee - Rives and related families of North Carolina and the United Kingdom, the history of Eastern North Carolina (especially Halifax County and the town of Enfield), the United Methodist Church in Eastern North Carolina, state and local and national politics, and his charitable and philanthropic interests. The earliest original documents cover the period from 1852 through the Civil War and World War I.

In this oral history interview, Charles E. Davis discusses his time as a student at East Carolina, particularly his involvement in civil rights activism on campus, as well as his civil rights activism in the larger eastern North Carolina community.
