Red Banks Home Demonstration Club Scrapbooks

Karl Edwards Hardee and his wife Clara Jane Cherry Hardee, both Pitt County natives and parents of the donor of this collection Karl Wayne Hardee, were very involved with the Red Banks Home Demonstration Club and the Eastern Pines Men's Fellowship Club. This collection consists of three large scrapbooks documenting the activities of the Red Banks Demonstration Club and the Eastern Pines Men's Fellowship Club in Pitt County, North Carolina, for 1956, 1957, and 1958. Annual reports, clippings, event programs and photographs of members, social gatherings and properties that were cleaned-up document the contributions of these groups to the Pitt County Progress Program.

This collection includes a Wedding Anniversary Scrapbook (ca. 1940-1996) kept by Lawrence White and Florence Hines White of Hope Plantation located on Washington Post Road in New Bern, North Carolina; digital images of the images in a photograph album created by the donor which documents the lives of Lawrence and Florence White of Hope Plantation and their families; and digital images of plantation chits related to farms in the Washington Post Road area. Joe Gladstone Norman was born on November 5, 1933 in the United States. Norman served in the US Army in Geislingen, Leipheim, Munster, Swabish Gmund, and Ulm, Germany (1956), and Austria (1955). William L. Spoon Papers

Papers (1705-1928) of Alamance County, North Carolina, native William L. Spoon (1862-1942) consisting of correspondence, a diary, pamphlets, almanacs, maps, photos, reports on weather, tax receipts, and land records. Spoon was a surveyor who was supervisor of public roads in Alamance County and worked as an agent of the U.S. Department of Agriculture as well as a teacher, inventor, and traveling salesman.
