Red Banks Home Demonstration Club Scrapbooks

Karl Edwards Hardee and his wife Clara Jane Cherry Hardee, both Pitt County natives and parents of the donor of this collection Karl Wayne Hardee, were very involved with the Red Banks Home Demonstration Club and the Eastern Pines Men's Fellowship Club. This collection consists of three large scrapbooks documenting the activities of the Red Banks Demonstration Club and the Eastern Pines Men's Fellowship Club in Pitt County, North Carolina, for 1956, 1957, and 1958. Annual reports, clippings, event programs and photographs of members, social gatherings and properties that were cleaned-up document the contributions of these groups to the Pitt County Progress Program.

Elizabeth Vann Moore Papers

Collection (1898, 1908-2009) consists of research materials related to the history of Edenton and the Albemarle-Chowan region of North Carolina. Elizabeth Vann Moore (1912-2010) of Edenton spent her life researching local and family history topics. Her notebooks and correspondence reflect her involvement in writing Historic Edenton Guidebooks, the 300 year history of St. Paul's Parish in Edenton, a North Carolina Historical Review article on John Mare, and extensive information about the Edenton Tea Party, as well as work with the Edenton Historical Commission and the North Caroliniana Society. Also included are personal items such as her poetry, diplomas, plaques, and DVDs of interviews with Miss Moore done in 2007 by Martha Daniels.

Emily Loftin Collection

This collection contains material (1818-1976) belonging to Emily Louise Loftin (May 10, 1898-December 20, 1985) of Carteret County, North Carolina. She was an educator, librarian, and historian. Included are correspondence, land records, legal records, receipts, wills, and estate records related to the Laughinghouse and Pugh families of Pitt County, N.C., the related Bright and Loftin families of Lenoir County, N.C., and the Pipkin family of Wayne County, N.C. This material was transferred from the Emily Loftin Collection at the History Museum of Carteret County, N.C. Material related to Carteret County remains at the History Museum of Carteret County.
