This collection contains a scrapbook that documents the student experience of Katie Harris.

The collection consists primarily of photographic, blueprint, journals, class photos, and other advertising materials used and/or created by the Medical News & Information department of East Carolina University.

Log book (December 1, 1851 through November 25, 1853) of the U.S. Brig Annandale of Camden, Maine, kept by first mate (and later captain) S. Pendleton of Isleboro, Maine, during 29 voyages along the east coast of the United States. Information is given on courses, winds, leeway, remarks, latitude, etc., during the voyages, as well as relative information collected when the brig is in harbor between voyages.

Interview with Mrs. Robert B. (Katie) Morgan, covering the years 1925 to 2018, relating to her early life and family background, her experiences as an ECTC-ECU student and alumna, and as a school teacher, including her memories of life as the wife of North Carolina attorney, government official, state senator, attorney general and US Senator Robert B. Morgan, and her political, charitable, and social activities in Lillington, Greenville, and Raleigh, North Carolina, and in Washington, DC.

Papers (1743 – 1985) of the descendants of Martin Whitford and Nancy Purifoi (Purifoy) Whitford, of Craven County NC, including David Purifoi Whitford, Susan Cox, Addison Purifoi Whitford, Pamela Toler and Edna Whitford Fisher, and consisting of land, legal and business records, genealogical charts and a family history, a photographic print, and the constitutions of the Mt. Lebanon Church and the Broad St. Church & Secondary School 100 Per Cent Loyalty and Service Club.

A collection including a logbook (9/11/1854-7/11/1863) for the ship Trafalgar, a packet ship with the City of Dublin Line, written by Captain Alfred William Harrison during its many voyages primarily between London, England and Madras, India, and other ports of call, a handwritten letter, a Mariner's Register Ticket, and other papers describing his voyages and medical illnesses, and a carte de visite of Capt. Harrison.

Papers (1885-2009) of prominent Washington, NC, attorney Junius Daniel Grimes, who was member of the firm Ward and Grimes, and his family and business associates, including correspondence, legal records, land records, financial papers, publications, taxes, installments, bills, survey, map, etc.

Collection includes a photograph album kept by three men as they travelled from Ohio to Warren County, North Carolina, (November 16-30, 1917) as they accompanied a train car load of cattle. Included are images of trains, train bridges, the farm ("plantation") belonging to N. A. Connell at Norlina and Warren Plains, North Carolina, Connell family members, farm equipment, and the process of cotton production (being picked, cotton gin, spinning cotton).

Papers (1945, 1994) of a US naval officer including an autobiographical sketch entitled Trains, Planes and Boats: A Memoir [and Genealogy of Richards Thorn Miller], 1918 - 1994, by Capt. Richards Thorn Miller, USN (Ret.) (1945); also an historical account of his World War II service in the Office of Supervisor of Shipbuilding, USNR Annapolis, Maryland, prepared by LCDR Richards T. Papers (mostly 1911-1958) consisting of correspondence, clippings, newspapers and photographs related to [Eleazer] Van Ness Harwood, Jr.'s career as a newspaper reporter, especially with The World in New York City (1899-1925), and as a publicist for people such as Mme. Marie Curie, and to his family life. Major topics documented are the Wright Brothers' 1911 flights at Kitty Hawk, N.C., and a visit by Mme. Curie to the United States in 1929 to receive a gift of one gram of radium for use in scientific research.

The Lawrence-Gulley General Store Records document the financial and commercial activities of a rural eastern North Carolina mercantile business from approximately 1898 to 1955. The collection consists primarily of business records, including correspondence, mortgages, receipts, invoices, inventories, day books, account books, ledgers, journals, cash books, sales books, cotton books, and related financial materials. These records provide detailed evidence of daily store operations, customer credit systems, agricultural commerce, inventory management, and local economic networks during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Particularly extensive are the day books and ledger volumes, which preserve long term transactional documentation and offer insight into patterns of rural trade and community relationships. The collection is valuable for research relating to regional commerce, agricultural history, rural consumer practices, bookkeeping methods, and the economic development of eastern North Carolina.
