This log book contains daily entries from October 29, 1816, through November 29, 1818, for the Schooner Hilan. John Hand is the Master of the schooner which sailed between eastern seaboard ports Philadelphia, Norfolk, Richmond, and Charleston. Entries cover weather, cargo listings, upkeep of the schooner, issues with crew members and passengers, and problems with the schooner related to harsh weather.
A collection of Lt. Richard Norman Tetlie's military service records (1943-1946) and the official records of the USS New York's lengthy service in the U.S. Navy (1914-1948). As an officer during World War II, Lt. Tetlie trained recruits at the Ship-to-Shore Division of the Fort Emory Detachment, Landing Craft School, Coronado, CA, in the fundamentals of the amphibious ship-to-shore maneuver. He then served as the USS New York's public relations officer and official historian (1946). As a result this collection contains documents, photographs, newsletters, and newspaper clippings from the USS New York during her service.

The John Joyner May Family Papers document the personal and financial activities of John Joyner May and his family in eastern North Carolina from 1868 to 1930. The collection consists of correspondence, receipts, invoices, legal documents, and printed materials that reflect local commerce, credit relationships, and family life in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Notable items include a chattel mortgage agreement, a post Civil War bankruptcy discharge, business correspondence with regional merchants, and ephemera related to insurance and local publications. The materials provide insight into rural economic practices and community networks in Pitt County and the surrounding region.

Harrison.
