This collection (1880s-1980s) concerns the Holt family of Smithfield in Johnston County, North Carolina, and the Henderson family in Conecuh County, Alabama, and the Wilson family of Harrison and Detroit, Michigan who are related through marriage. The Holt family material mainly concerns William and Nancy Holt and their children and includes correspondence, diaries, school records, 16 mm films, photographs, and documents such as oil and gas leases in Texas related to William's work with The Texas Company (part of Texaco). The larger portion of the material is related to the other two families and includes correspondence, photographs (tintypes through color snapshots), ledger books and deeds (many related to timber purchases in Alabama and Michigan), and undated plat books for Michigan.

This collection contains materials of alumnus Margaret Frances Brake from her time as a student at East Carolina College. Many items relate to graduation.

The bulk of the Raymond J. Kragness Papers (1943-1946, 2000, 2004) pertains to Mr. Kragness's service in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre in World War II aboard the USS Escambia. Personal items include rites of passage membership cards (such as crossing the Equator), draft board notification, photographs, post cards of San Francisco Bay, course certificates, separation from service records and a brief family history. The remaining items pertain to his service on the USS Escambia, a fleet oiler. Included are the ship's history and directory, newsletter "Eighty Times," a list of ships fuled by the USS Escambia, plans of the day, congratulatory messages from Admiral Halsey, and invitations and tickets for commissioning and decommissioning ceremonies.

The Records of the Planning Coordinator are comprised of annual reports, minutes, memos, reports, long-range plans.

This collection (1760s-1902) mainly contains land records, accounts, a will, and receipts related to the Price and McDade families of Edgecombe and Nash Counties, North Carolina. Also included is a PDF scan of "The Life History of Dempsey Trevathan and Descendants." Another interesting item is a diary (1890-1895, 1902) kept by Theron L. Budesheim's grandmother Franc Emma Rhoades Bates. She documents her life in New York and Pennsylvania where her husband Oliver Bates worked as a scaler in the timber industry.

Papers of physician Hassell Brantley consisting mainly of personal class notes, list of medical school graduates, and transcriptions of some of the notes.

Papers (1772-1861) including financial records, correspondence, deeds, records of Masonic Order, and miscellaneous.

Various photographs of hospitals, patients, and advertisements. Many are unidentified.

Thirty items (ca. 1959-1971), consisting of photographic prints with captions, one note, and one newspaper clipping, concerning the launch and retirement of the NS SAVANNAH which was the first nuclear powered merchant vessel.

This collection contains fifty-seven ca. 1920 photographs of Greenville, North Carolina, and of East Carolina Teachers Training School (now East Carolina University). Pictured are churches, businesses, tobacco warehouses, municipal buildings, schools, residences and Training School buildings. Many buildings in these images no longer exist. The photographer is unknown.

The collection includes newspaper clippings, correspondence and supporting documentation about Dennis H. Cookes short tenure as president of East Carolina Teachers College.
