The collection contains the secretary/treasurer papers of the North Carolina Surgical Association. Files include correspondence, financial statements, meeting planning, programs, rosters, and photographs.

Papers (1960-1962, 1986, undated) compiled by Doris M. Cromartie, during her service as vice chair of the executive committee of the Democratic Women of North Carolina, including correspondence, lists of workers, by-laws, newsletter, articles, and miscellaneous materials pertaining to Democratic Party activities in North Carolina.

The clipping file provides subject access to the North Carolina Collection's clipping file of selected newspaper articles taken primarily from the Greenville Daily Reflector and Raleigh News and Observer.

The Vertical File contains brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, and other printed ephemeral material pertaining to North Carolina people, organizations, places, history, and events. Files on a county, for example, typically include brochures / maps pertaining to natural or historic sites, cultural events, and local businesses.

Collection includes an unknown Wilmington, North Carolina, merchant's daybook containing accounts (March 1, 1855-May 9, 1857) related to ships (including, among others, Steamer Henrietta, Steamer Flora McDonald, Schooner Jonas Sparks, Schooner Wm. A. Ellis), firms (such as Carolina Hotel, Wilmington and Manchester Rail Road, Wilmington Gas Company), and individuals (Wm. Sutton, James Green, Samuel Sheppard, etc.).

The Louis Orr Collection contains a set of forty-eight prints of the original fifty-one print set (and one replacement print) made from etchings of North Carolina historical landmarks and architectural sites. The etchings were created from 1939 to 1952 by artist Louis Orr, a world-renown etcher, at the behest of North Carolina resident Robert Lee Humber who wanted to preserve North Carolina's heritage by providing the artwork to schools, colleges, public libraries and institutions throughout the state.
