This collection contains correspondence (August 1941-June 1942, undated) between Richard H. Owen and his parents, especially his mother Mrs. M. A. Owen in Miami, Florida, while he was serving aboard the USS Crescent City and stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station at Corpus Christi, Texas. Also included is a notepad containing First Aid lessons and addresses.

Collection does not contain original photographs Collection, ca. 1908-1997, of photographic prints made from cyanotype, sepia tone, and black & white photographs. Original photographs were owned by Alpheus W. Drinkwater (1875-1962), a telegrapher and correspondent for The Associate Press in Manteo, NC, who was famed for relaying the news of the Wright Brothers's first flight at Kitty Hawk, NC, on December 17, 1903.

Interview (1923-1998) with African-American woman from a rural background, who lived in the Statonsburg - Wilson, NC area, and who worked at the James Miller Tobacco Company in Wilson, NC, pertaining to family, sharecropping, work, and race relations. The collection consists primarily of photographic, blueprint, journals, class photos, and other advertising materials used and/or created by the Medical News & Information department of East Carolina University.

Collection (1766-2010) consists of items related to the Augustus Moore (June 8, 1803-March 23, 1851) family of Chowan and Halifax Cos., N.C., his children Augustus Minton Moore, William Armistead Moore, Henrietta Moore Sutton, Susan Augustus Moore Righton, Mary Elizabeth Moore, Alfred Moore and John Armistead Moore, and the descendants of John Armistead Moore. Included are account books, legal records, land transactions, estate records, correspondence, clippings, and autograph books (1855, 1865) belonging to family members who attended Miss Willard's Female Seminary in Troy, N.Y., and Patapsco Female Institute in Ellicott City, Maryland. Also included are identified photographs (cartes de visite, tintypes, cased pictures, albums) of the Moore, Gilliam, and Skinner, families, religious books such as Roman Catholic Missals, Episcopal Books of Common Prayer and Bibles, UNC-Chapel Hill diplomas (1824), and items related to the 1878 Exposition in Paris, France.

Lenoir County Colonial Commission Records (2006–2007, undated) pertaining to events and activities honoring and celebrating the life and accomplishments of landowner, Revolutionary War general, and six term governor of North Carolina, Richard Caswell, held in Kinston, N.C., 12–19 August 2007; also including newspaper clippings, programs of events, correspondence, financial records, printed materials, digital materials, drafts, and documents regarding the publication of Clayton Brown Alexander's 1930 PhD dissertation, which was a biography of Richard Caswell, entitled "First Patriots and the Best of Men: Richard Caswell in Public Life," which was edited by W. Keats Sparrow.

Papers (1926-1953) of Brig. General Paul A. Putnam, U. S. Marine Corps, an aviator, who was captured at Wake Island and was a POW in Japan, 1941-1945, consisting of correspondence, diaries, a photograph, clippings, citations, orders, recipe book, copies of awards, citations, publications, newspaper articles.

Administrative records of The William E. Laupus Health Sciences Library includes papers, publications, and photographs.

Bryant L. Tritt was born on December 7, 1903 in Gaston County North Carolina. He kept a collection of family bibles. The collection spans 1778-1970 and includes photocopies of genealogical records from Tritt and his wife's family Bibles listing births, deaths, and marriages, etc. The Strength of the collection is the Tritt-Whitley family of Gaston County, Davie County, and Davidson County, North Carolina genealogical records.

In this oral history interview, Charles E. Davis discusses his time as a student at East Carolina, particularly his involvement in civil rights activism on campus, as well as his civil rights activism in the larger eastern North Carolina community.

The ship's log of the US Brig Porpoise, dated 19 February 1845 to 16 June 1846, was kept during a cruise from New York to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. It details navigational statistics, weather reports, sightings and hailing of other ships, and punishments of crew infractions. The author was probably Midshipman Benjamin Lee Henderson and the log was signed in fifteen places by Lt. Commander William E. Hunt.
