A collection including a logbook (9/11/1854-7/11/1863) for the ship Trafalgar, a packet ship with the City of Dublin Line, written by Captain Alfred William Harrison during its many voyages primarily between London, England and Madras, India, and other ports of call, a handwritten letter, a Mariner's Register Ticket, and other papers describing his voyages and medical illnesses, and a carte de visite of Capt. Harrison.

Interview (1942-1998) with African-American teacher who graduated from St. Augustine's College, Raleigh, NC, who taught for thirty-one years in the Wilson County, NC schools and currently teaches at James Baxter Hunt High School. Papers (1908-1967, undated) pertaining to the military career and personal life of Lieutenant General Robert Frederick Sink (1905-1965), a graduate of West Point, a pioneer in the use of airborne warfare, who commanded the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army Airborne Corps, during World War II, 1942-1945, participating in the Allied Invasion of Normandy (1944) and the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne, Belgium (1944-1945); and served as Chief of Staff of the RYUKUS command based on Okinawa, Japan (1949); as Assistant Commander of the 7th Infantry Division in Korea (1951); as a member of the Joint Airborne Troop Board at Fort Bragg, North Carolina (1954); and as commander of the Strategic Army Corps (STRAC) and the 18th Airborne (1958); he was promoted to lieutenant general, in 1959, and took command of the U.S. Army in the Caribbean, a post he held until he retired in 1961 due to poor health; he died in 1965; the collection consists of correspondence, clippings, manuscripts, photographs & printed materials.

This collection contains documents and memorabilia (1927-1956, undated) kept by Mattie Sloan related to Winstead's Mighty Minstrels and other Black Minstrel groups such as Irvin C. Miller's "Brown Skin Models". Included are ledgers (1944, 1951, 1954, undated) recording ticket sales, salaries, and routes for the Winstead group and photographs, work licenses, advertising circulars and cards, and a poster. The strength of the collection is the historical significance that shows the involvement of African Americans as performers and managers that were not often included in standard histories of circuses and vaudeville.

Items (1928-1941) related to Greenville, NC, resident James Howard Moye; and items (1955) related U.S. Coast Guard rescues in North Carolina. The Zion's Landmark Vol. 23, No. 7 and Vol. 32, No. 7 (10/15/1890 and 2/15/1899) periodical published semi-monthly by Zion's Landmark Print, Wilson, North Carolina (Primitive, or Old School Baptist) that was in the collection has since been transferred to the North Carolina Collection as of 2022.

Papers (1914-1988, undated) of David Balcombe, an enlisted man in the 1st Battalion, 4th Queen's West Surrey Territorial Regiment (Reserve) in India during World War I, 1914-1917; he later served as an instrument mechanic in India and Egypt in the Royal Flying Corps, 1917-1918. Consists primarily of correspondence (1914-1919) from David Balcombe to his parents in South Norwood, Surrey, England, plus clippings, ephemera, and photographs of India. Also included are letters (1928-1935) from Walter George Courtice to his sister Ruby R. Courtice, during his residency in Durban, South Africa.

Papers (1853-1946, 1962) consisting of correspondence, legal records, financial records, business memos, receipts, reports, photographs, clippings and miscellaneous related to a family of tobacconists living in Lynchburg, Virginia, and then settling in Greenville, North Carolina.
