Material relating to the life of Clarence Stasavich before he came to East Carolina University in 1962 to be the head football coach (and later athletic director) and after his death in 1975. Included is correspondence (1942-1945) related to his time in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was an LST Commander in several theatres of war, items related to his time at Lenoir Rhyne College as a football coach prior to coming to East Carolina University, and clippings and documents related to his death in 1975, the subsequent memorial service, and scholarships created in his memory.

Originally from New York, the Rodmans married into the prominent Blount family in Beaufort County, NC. The Rodmans also held local and state government offices and were judges.

Still, Jr.'s career as a well-known and respected maritime historian and author. Robert Ryves (later Rives) is traces back to 1465 France. His family eventually settled in North Carolina in the mid 1700's. Robert Ryves descendant John Gaston Rives Jr was born on June 24, 1854 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. This collection spans 1818-1957, 2007 and contains three pages removed from the Rives family Bible, containing birth, death, and marriage records dating between 1818 and 1957, genealogy of the Rives family back to 1465 France, and a photograph of John Gaston Rives Jr. The strength of this collection is the genealogical records.

This log book contains daily entries from October 29, 1816, through November 29, 1818, for the Schooner Hilan. John Hand is the Master of the schooner which sailed between eastern seaboard ports Philadelphia, Norfolk, Richmond, and Charleston. Entries cover weather, cargo listings, upkeep of the schooner, issues with crew members and passengers, and problems with the schooner related to harsh weather.
