Papers (1919-1968) including newspapers, clippings, photographs etc, poems, jokes, and articles of military personnel.

Photograph album documenting the travels (1951) of the USS Seiverling through stops in Pearl Harbor, Midway, Japan, and probably Hong Kong, participation in the Taiwan Strait Patrol, and bombardments near Songjin, North Korea. Photographs depict not only the activities of the sailors, but also activities of the local people. Also included are photographs of other U.S. Navy ships, and small boats carrying surrendering North Koreans.

Contains Rocky Mount Sanitarium Nurses Alumnae minutes (1956-2013), constitution and bylaws, and Florence Nightingale pledge booklet.

This collection (1910-1934, 1964) contains correspondence, photographs, postcards, official documents, two diaries/journals, and publications related to the World War I service of a nurse trained at Camp McClellan in Alabama and served in France. Also documented is her post-World War I service in Serbia with the Serbian Relief Committee of America.

The Edward Baxter Billingsley Collection (1817-1819, 1938–1999, undated) consists of historical research materials, drafts, and a typescript copy (643 pages) of One Destroyer and World War II: A History of the U. S. S. Emmons (DD457-DM22), by Edward Baxter Billingsley, that he later published as The Emmons Saga: A History of the U. S. S. Emmons (DD457 – DM22). Also included are photographic prints, photocopied naval documents, and microfilm reels concerning his research, and correspondence (1817-1819) related to his dissertation on Chilean and Peruvian wars of Independence.

A typescript history of the USS Borie (DD 704) and an issue of its newsletter Noah's Ark News (Sept. 2, 1945), and photographs.

Papers (1943-1946), including diary entries, newsletters, programs, menus, and other materials reflecting service aboard the USS Wisconsin.

Papers (1945, 1994) of a US naval officer including an autobiographical sketch entitled Trains, Planes and Boats: A Memoir [and Genealogy of Richards Thorn Miller], 1918 - 1994, by Capt. Richards Thorn Miller, USN (Ret.) (1945); also an historical account of his World War II service in the Office of Supervisor of Shipbuilding, USNR Annapolis, Maryland, prepared by LCDR Richards T. "Gunners Mate WW II: Biography of a M.T.B. Sailor [Charles Patrick Landers, 1912-1981]," by Matt [Matthew P.] Landers (Greenville, NC: Matt Landers, 1995)

Collection contains mainly material related to the African American Navy Band members who served at the Great Lakes Naval Base during World War II (1942-1945). This material includes programs and related material from the February 28-March 2, 2003, salute to these African American band members that was held in Chicago, Illinois, and from former band member Carl Foster's participation in a symposium sponsored by the North Carolina Museum of History in 2003. Other material includes programs (1987) for concerts by the North Carolina Jazz Ensemble and a 1945 USO Hawaii booklet.

Organization records (1955-1980), including correspondence, minutes, constitution and by-laws, membership lists, agenda, memorial, resolutions, financial records, and miscellaneous.

Material relating to the life of Clarence Stasavich before he came to East Carolina University in 1962 to be the head football coach (and later athletic director) and after his death in 1975. Included is correspondence (1942-1945) related to his time in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was an LST Commander in several theatres of war, items related to his time at Lenoir Rhyne College as a football coach prior to coming to East Carolina University, and clippings and documents related to his death in 1975, the subsequent memorial service, and scholarships created in his memory.
