Collection of two bound manuscript account books (1872-1892) of a physician practicing in Cameron and Carthage, Moore County, North Carolina, during the late 19th century and for part of that time in partnership with Calvin Graves, a pharmacist, including bills and receipts for office visits, medicines, and vague descriptions of treatments. One volume contains an alphabetical index of patient names for locating specific patient accounts. Also includes advertisements and postcards directed to physicians and/or pharmacists as well as a loose receipt.
Minutes (1859, 1880) including Blue Book containing Sons of Temperance rituals, note book containing minutes, list of members, notations, diagram, passwords, etc.
Papers (1911-1945) including correspondence of Bogue Banks, dairy farm, letters commentary, social activities, republican committee, financial papers, manuscripts, pamphlets, blue prints, etc.
Collection (1942-2005) of materials belonging to Wray Raphael Herring, a member of the U.S. Navy B-1 Band which was the first all-African American Navy Band during World War II. Included are programs, clippings, sound recordings, yearbooks, concert programs, poems, and sheet music.

#0748Papers (1806-1906) including correspondence, financial papers, journals, notebooks, legal papers and business documents relating to Timothy Hunter (1804-1875), a prominent Pasquotank County, N.C., shipbuilder and mariner.
Correspondence (1942-1945) between Mary A. McLeod, through her work in South Carolina with the USO, and several members of the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II; and correspondence (1936-1949, undated) between Lt. John D. Grier and his family in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area during his military service before and during World War II. Other correspondence in the collection is between Grier and his brother who was a prisoner of war in Germany during World War II. The collection spans 1936-1949 and includes correspondence, photographs, and a Blue Star Service Banner which would have been displayed in the front window of a home where a family member was serving in the U.S. MaryArmed Services during World War II. Mary A. McLeod and John D. Grier were married in 1948.
