Ghormley, Jr., discusses the life and career of his father, Vice Admiral Robert Lee Ghormley (1883-1958), as well as his own childhood, family life, education at the U.S. Naval Academy, and career in the U.S. Navy. Vice Admiral Ghormley was a member of the United States Naval Academy Class of 1906 and his son was a member of the Class of 1948.

In this oral history interview, Joseph Crutchfield, Jr. speaks about his childhood, his experiences as a student at East Carolina University, his career as a teacher, and his involvement in indigenous organizations.
