Biographical/historical information

Born in Pinehurst, NC, Charles R. (Dick) Blake was a graduate of East Carolina University, where he played basketball and served in Detachment 600 of the Air Force ROTC. After a long career in the US Air Force, Blake was chosen by Leo Jenkins to return to East Carolina as Assistant to the Chancellor in 1974. Blake served two other chancellors, Thomas Brewer and John Howell, before leaving ECU. Blake passed away in 2003 at the age of 72.

Collection primarily contains correspondence related to the administration of East Carolina University under Chancellors Leo Jenkins, Thomas Brewer, and John Howell.
