The Department of Sociology, founded in the 1960s by Dr. Melvin J. Williams, is located within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department of Sociology was combined with Anthropology between 1965 and 1993 and with Economics between 1982 and 1986. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees.
