Cecil P. Staton Jr. was born January 26, 1958 in Greenville, South Carolina. He served from 2016-2019 as the seventh chancellor of East Carolina, and as East Carolina's eleventh chief administrative officer. He is a religion scholar, publisher, and five-term Georgia state senator.
