Thomas W. Rivers Collection of Genealogical Charts showing descendants of Robert (1677-1742) and George (1678-1749) Rivers, of Bermuda and James Island, South Carolina; notes; and autographed photographs of Count Felix von Luckner and his ship SEEADLER.
Captain Robert Rivers (1677-1742?) and his half-brother George Rivers (1678-1749) were sons of Robert Rivers (1647-?) of Bermuda. Before 1696 the brothers moved to James Island, South Carolina.
The five genealogical charts in this collection, drawn and compiled by Joseph D. Rivers, present the descendants of Robert and George Rivers. Birth, marriage, and death dates, along with brief biographical information about the descendants are included on the charts. The charts reveal the history of the Rivers family in England, Bermuda, and South Carolina as well as the history of the Hext, Freer, Patey, Dill, and Taylor families of South Carolina. Illustrations on the charts include maps of Bermuda and the Southeastern United States, as well as wildlife and sailing vessels. The dimensions of the charts range from 46" long to 57" long and from 40 3/4" wide to 41 1/4" wide. Chart 5.a measures 46 1/4" x 40 3/4"; chart 5.b is 46 1/2" x 41"; chart 5.c is 47" x 41"; chart 5.d is 57" x 41"; and chart 5.e is 46" x 41 1/4".
Also included in the collection are genealogical notes on the Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio descendants of Nellie Gifford Wilson and Amos Lee Wilson, and autographed photographs of Count Felix von Luckner and his ship SEEADLER.
