Biographical/historical information

James B. Smith was born 15 October 1860 in Colesville, North Carolina to Christopher and Finetta Frances (Sheppard) Smith. He attended the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Baltimore in the 1880s. He married Emma W. Rierson and together they had five children: James, Myrtle, Edward Warren, Gertrude Imogene, and Minnie. He died 31 May 1928 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
