This collection contains Ann Laliotes remarks for the dedication of John Laliotes Political Science Library, the dedication program for the Ann. B. Laliotes Reading Room in Joyner Library, and ECU ephemera including a library card and Dean's List announcement for John Laliotes, and a tuition receipt for Ann Laliotes.
Biographical/historical information
Ann Brandon and John Laliotes attended East Carolina University and both graduated in 1969. Ann earned degrees in Spanish and History. John earned a degree in Political Science. Ann also earned a Master of library Science in 1972 from ECU. Ann served as an Assistant Librarian in the Reference Department at Joyner Library. Their philanthropy supports many areas of the university including athletics, academics, and the medical and health sciences. They funded the renovation of the Political Science library room, which was named in John's honor in 2019. They also created endownments to support the Joyner Reading Room and profesional development for Laupus Health Science librarians. The Ann B. Laliotes Reading Room in Joyner Library was dedicated in her honor in 2022. John passed away on April 9, 2019.
