Judge Larkins has served as U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of N.C. since 1961. Previously he was a practicing attorney, state senator, president pro-tem of the senate, secretary of the N.C. Democratic Executive Committee, chairman of the N.C. Democratic Executive Committee, Democratic National Committeeman, and candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor of N.C.
The interviews provide an in-depth account of Judge Larkin's life and career.
