Biographical/historical information

Hodge Albert Newell was born 1883 August 22 to George W. and Sarah (Coppedge) Newell. He graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Baltimore in 1906. In 1909, he married Janet E. Hayes, but she died the following year. In 1915, Newell married his first wife's sister, Mary Hayes, and they would have Hodge Albert Jr., Mary Sue (Clark), Jane Elizabeth (Zodum), and Josephine Evelyn. Newell served in both World War I and World War II as a colonel and surgeon. He died 1956 November 2.

A medical school diploma, a medical license, and a membership certificate to the Sons of the American Revolution, all issued to Hodge Newell.
