Biographical/historical information

Thilleman Johan van de Sande was born 1764 May 30 in Drenthe, Netherlands. He earned a medical degree on 1790 July 12, possibly in Amsterdam. He married Geertruida Johanna Heyning (1759-1835) on 1793 October 6, in Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. He is included in Dutch Reformed Church registers in South Africa in 1802 and earlier. He died 1827 December 14 in Hanau, Germany.

Daniel Frederik George van de Sande was born 1798 August 14 in Cape of Good Hope, South Africa to Thielleman and Geertruida Johanna (Heyning) van de Sande. He married Anna Eliza Heriette Frolich (1805 – 1828) on 1826 July 21 in Hanau, Germany. Following her death, he married his second wife, Maria Margaretta Carolina Frolich (1807 – 1896) in Hanau, Germany and they had John and Mary. By 1860, the van de Sandes were living in Somerville, Massachusetts. He died 1881 August 4 in North Cambridge, Massachusetts.
