Biographical/historical information
James B. Smith was born 1860 October 15 in Colesville, North Carolina to Christopher and Finetta Frances (Sheppard) Smith. He attended the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Baltimore in the 1880s. He married Emma W. Rierson and together they had five children: James, Myrtle, Edward Warren, Gertrude Imogene, and Minnie. He died 1928 May 31 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
