Biographical/historical information
Larry Allison High was born 1918 May 2 to Ortho Lee and Rebecca Elizabeth (Marshall) High. He graduated from the Atlantic Christian College and the Medical College of Virginia in 1941 and 1945 respectively. After graduating, High served with the U.S. Navy for a few months toward the end of World War II. For a brief time, he practiced medicine in Ashland, Virginia, but moved his family to Nashville, North Carolina, in 1948, where he practiced family medicine for over 40 years. In addition to serving as president of the Nash County Medical Society, High was a member of the North Carolina Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Practice, and the Nashville United Methodist Church. High married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Hilley and they had Becky (Tingen), Margaret (Nowell), Larry Jr., and Robert. He died on 1992 February 5.
Scope and arrangement
The collection contains six invoices from Winchester Surgical Supply Company, Charlotte, North Carolina, made out to Dr. L. A. High as part of a proposal order to establish a new physician's office in Nashville, North Carolina.
