Biographical/historical information
Edith Corinne Solomon was born 1926 November 29 in Roxboro, North Carolina to Shaube Paul and Edith Virginia Solomon. She graduated from the Watts Hospital School of Nursing in Durham in 1947. In 1949, Solomon married James Preston Logan and they would have three children together: Laura (Edmundson), Ella (Patterson), and John. As of 2015, Edith was still living in Wilson, North Carolina.
Scope and arrangement
1944 edition of "Watts Procedure School of Nursing" manual used by Edith Corrine Solomon Logan. The nursing procedures were "collected and put in book form in order to make them available for the graduates and students at all times." The manual includes topics on the hospital and its departments, admission and discharge or patients, caring for patients, assisting with examinations and diagnostic tests, pre- and post-operative nursing care, among other topics. Each topic is discussed in detail, frequently including a definition, purpose, any precautions, equipment, procedure, and what information should be recorded.
