    Letter from L. L. Bennett to Clarence Searl in 1915. The letter, written on National Farmers Bank in Owatonna, Minnesota stationary, indicates Bennett giving Searl dental forceps he had been using while in Minnesota. The handwritten letter is accompanied by a transcription.

  • Biographical / Historical Note
     

    L. L. Bennett left Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL in 1862. He had a pair of dental forceps made by [Tiemann (?)] and Co. Bennett used these forceps in Owatonna, Steele County, Minnesota from 1864 to 1874 or later. On December 7, 1915, he gave the forceps to Clarence Searl. Bennett and Searl were both dentists and/or physicians, with Bennett as president of the National Farmers Bank in Owatonna, Minnesota, and A. C. Searl as acting "2nd Vice President".

    L. L. Bennett may be Dr. Leonard L. Bennett (1840-1916) and Clarence Searl may be Clarence A. Searl (1888-1970) and/or the "A.C. Searl" listed as the "2nd Vice President" of the National Farmers Bank, Owatonna, Minnesota.
