Collection of physical material documenting the organization Women for Women of Pitt County, North Carolina (2005 2024). The collection includes newsletters, promotional materials, photographs, and organizational documents, such as member records and bylaws.
Biographical/historical information
Women for Women of Pitt County was part of the greater Greenville Community Foundation located in Pitt County, N.C. Women for Women was established in 2005 as a nonprofit organization, until the organizations disbanding in 2020. The organizations' purpose was to build an endowment that provided grants to programs supporting empowerment of the women and girls of Greenville and Pitt County. Funds from the organization's endowment went towards supporting women achieve financial security via receiving job training and education stipends. The Power of the Purse event was the organizations main fundraiser and was a yearly luncheon hosted by the organization to engage donors. After disbanding, the organization turned its endowment over to the North Carolina Community Foundation.
Scope and arrangement
The collection includes newsletters, promotional materials, photographs, and organizational documents, such as member records and bylaws of the Women for Women of Pitt County organization. Materials included are separated by membership year and act as a "year-at-a-glance", with central focus on the "Power of the Purse" Lunchon and fundraiser. Promotional materials for the fundraiser include newsletters, invitations, program booklet, signed photos of guest speakers, and printed email correspondence discussing planning details and silent auction items. The program booklets contain a history of the organization, sponsors of the event, written submissions from previous grant recipients, event itineraries, short biographies of guest speakers, and a list of founding and current organization members.
