This collection contains two archeological reports of investigations conducted in Dare County, North Carolina.
The study "Final Report, Archaeological Test Investigations, Fortification and Camp Live Oak, Waves, Dare County, North Carolina" was initiated by Mr. Mel Covey, a Hatteras Island resident. The archeological and documentary studies were conducted to identify the existence of a fortification and camp at the northern end of Hatteras Island.
The studys, "A Continuing Conflict for Chicamacomico's Camp Live Oak: Unbeknownst to Babits - A Critical Analysis of the Babits et al Final Report"was also conducted by Mr. Mel Covey. This study documented the 2013 Civil War investigation at the Wenberg residence in Waves Village. The village location contradicted with the position held by some that it was the the location of Camp Live Oak.
The collection includes 2 reports related to the archaeological investigations at Waves in Dare County, North Carolina, to find the site of the Civil War Union Camp Live Oak.
