Collection consists of material related to the history of the Lynndale Garden Club of Greenville, North Carolina, from its founding in 1974 to 2016. Included are meeting minutes, executive board minutes, newsletters, photographs, clippings, yearbooks, brochures, membership rosters, treasurer reports, constitutions and by-laws, and engagement calendar books put out by the Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc., which contain photographs of winning arrangements by garden club members (including members of Lynndale Garden Club).
The Lynndale Garden Club was established in 1974 in Greenville, North Carolina, by members of the Lynndale community. The club's constitution, which was amended and adopted by the membership in November 22, 1994, states the club's mission. The mission of the Lynndale Garden Club is to encourage interest in gardening and fellowship in the Lynndale community; to aid in the protection of native trees, plants, birds, wild flowers, and wildlife; and to cooperate with other organizations that further the interests of horticulture.
The Lynndale Garden Club Collection consists of two series: Meeting Minutes and Club Records. These items document the activities of this Greenville, North Carolina, organization.
Series One: The Meeting Minutes (1974-2014) provide information on finances, officer ceremonies, and membership. The minutes from 1974 include the proposed constitution and by-laws for the Lynndale Garden Club. The by-laws outline the duties of the officers, and the members of the Executive Board. Membership and election information is also included.
Series Two: The Club Records (1991-2016) document the everyday operations of the organization. Among the material in this series are the club's newsletters, photographs, clippings, certificates, yearbooks, membership applications, engagement calendar books, and the club's adopted constitution and by-laws which were amended and approved by the club's membership on November 22, 1994. The calendar books (2002, 2003) were published by The Garden Club of N.C. and contain photos of winning floral arrangements by garden club members. The collection also includes a scrapbook documenting organization news and events.
